Sensei Tadamori-no-Yoshi, feudal Japan's greatest swordsman, has proven his martial skill in winning his love, Name, from the cruel Lord Chikara. But now the powerful Taira would have their vengeance, and Yoshi finds himself in the center of the war for control of 12th-century Japan.
Sensei 1 was excellent, 2 is not nearly as much fun. The main character has somehow become nearly superhuman in strength and ability in the short timespan between the events of the first and second novel and it really hurts the story overall: the protagonist has so few weaknesses the stakes are very low.
Still fun, and it's always nice to follow up on characters you've grown to like, but it's not a great followup to the good initial book in the series.
