Basic plot: Dora and Boots seek to give their Valentine's Day gifts to each other in classic Dora fashion.

Lesson learned from this book: NEVER leave your 4-year-old son alone with your wi-fi-enabled Nook. EVER. No length of time is safe! He WILL figure out how to purchase/download the first bit of colorful pop culture he sees and your wallet will suffer for it almost as much as your mind. Then he'll "recommend" it to people just to add insult to injury. :P

Obviously, I got the e-book version of this book. Maybe the low star rating is just due to my general irritation with the unwilling download, but maybe it's just because the book is kind of lackluster. Sure, the colors/graphics are bright and well-done in their very Dora way. There are added animations and ways to interact with the book, and they are well done in the looks department. It's very *slick* looking. There is next to no substance, though, as the plot of the book is a watered-down Dora episode, and Dora isn't exactly what I'd call a potent mix to begin with. Plus, there's the price of it. WAY too high for what you get. The price is for the Dora name and that's it as far as I can tell. I've never been a fan of paying for labels, and I am NOT starting now. Maybe I'll feel different after reading 20 or so (hey, I do have a 4-year-old, and I did pay for the damned thing, so I'm not exactly going to delete it), but I doubt it.

This book was written very similar to this episode of the cartoon show. BUT you can read it so the child can interact with it (like the show) or just skip the parts it asks the questions to involve the child without it affecting the story. I also enjoyed this book as it helps children understand that Valentine's Day isn't just about boy-girlfriends. But friends in general, it's a day to let others know they are important.

Cute! My 16 month old makes me read this at least once a day. Dora and Boots will do anything to spend a lovely Valentine day atop Rainbow Rock together. It is an easy read; not too long and brightly illustrated.

This book tackles subjects taboo to our society. Its about the forbidden love between a little girl and a monkey. You will not find a more fascinating romance.

Dora remains somewhat interesting for Maddie. We should watch the live action movie again.

My 4yo daughter loves these Dora "interactive" books.
