A good book to read with a toddle before going to the dentist. It breaks down what will happen. Dora has a cavity and she goes over what to expect.

Very informative walkthrough of a dentist visit with some interactive questions for the listener.
None of the characters are scared of the dentist visit.

Another of Harriet's Dora books is Show Me Your Smile! A Visit to the Dentist. It breaks with the usual Dora format but Harriet and Sean both seem to like it but I find it a bit of a chore to read. How many times in a row can one read with enthusiasm about Dora's trip to the dentist where she has a cavity filled?

The early episodes and books of Dora were very formulaic. Dora and Boots had to go from point A to point B an had to follow the route plotted for them by the Map. Along the way they'd pass two or three check points and have a couple of obstacles to navigate through. Near the end of the series run, Dora became such a superstar that her stories started to focus more on her and less on her exploring. Show Me Your Smile! falls into this latter category.

Ignoring the fact that a trip to the dentist has nothing to do with exploring, especially when Dora's parents obviously brought her there, the book does teach young children what their first trip to the dentist might be like. I just don't think that Dora is the character to do this. But don't tell my kids, because they still like the book and I'll probably be reading it to them for months to come.

Dora the Explorer heads to the dentist for a check up, cleaning, and to get a cavity filled. A positive way to help your child know what to expect at the dentist, or to get prepared for their next visit.

One thing I thought was odd was that Dora excitedly pointed to the image of the dentist holding up her x-ray, which showed a cavity. She seemed awfully excited about that cavity! My daughter didn't want to read the page or so describing how the cavity was filled, though. I don't blame her!

Simple and fun, this included a couple of words in Spanish and of course, showed Dora picking out her toothbrush and sticker at the end of her visit.

We have checked this book out several times. My daughter really likes it. For whatever reason she was fascinated by it. She is four and not really a fan of the dentist. Maybe seeing Dora being brave and explaining all the things they do in the book helped her get over her fear of the dentist, she sure handled it better after reading this book.

As always the books are English with some Spanish words. The pictures are bright and colorful and each page is short and you move on quickly which I think is especially good for young children.

I can't wait until my girl does an EXCELLENT job of brushing her own teeth and doesn't cry when she goes to the dentist (two times a year). This book might just be the one to encourage positive associations with clean, healthy teeth and the dentist who checks up on them. Dora's dentist even looks like marzieh's!

This is a Dora book based on the tv show. In this episode Dora goes to the dentist for a teeth cleaning. A nice fun book and good to read before taking your child to the dentist so they know what to expect.

Merged review:

This is a great Dora book all about visiting the dentist. A nice illustrated guide for reading to kids before visits.

An excellent introduction to the dentist. Our girls love their Dora the Explorer books. We've read this one over and over, especially before a dentist visit.

I like this book because it gives students a great outlook for the dentist's office. This is a good book to read in a Pre-K class to children who are probably afraid of visiting the dentist and can be encouraged by Dora the Explorer to visit the Dentist!

My 4 year old granddaughter and I read this at the dentist's office after her cleaning. A cute book to help kid's feel comfortable with the dentist.

I must admit to cringing when Dora describes the drill used to fill her cavity. Yikes! Alice does love cleaning her teeth.

Dora goes to the dentist, so do some pigs and Swipe. Who knew that Dora would have a cavity?
