A MONSTEROUS BEAST STALKS THE WILDERNESS!

Jessica Dutton and her cousin, Isaac, are vacationing in beautiful Sun Valley, Idaho with their families. They'll spend days skiing and snowboarding... but this year, Jessica and Isaac decide to try something else: snowshoeing. There are many trails near the lodge where they're staying, and they think it will be fun to try something new and do a little exploring on their own.

But Jessica has an uneasy feeling. For years, there have been rumors about a strange, bigfoot-like creature roaming the forests of Idaho. Some call it the ice beast, and a few people have claimed to have seen the mysterious monster. Still others have said to have had horrible encounters with the creature.

But there really is no ice beast... is there?

Jessica and Isaac are about to find out that the stories about the Idaho ice beast aren't just tall tales. The pair are about to come face to face with a creature that, up until now, was only alive in myths and legends. The trouble is: will they live to tell about it?

The book is about a young girl named Jessica going on a family trip with her cousins. They are traveling to Sun Valley, Idaho to hit slopes skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing. They stay at a resort which allows them to basically explore and do whatever they want around the wildlife park. At this certain resort and lodge they are staying at has had some strange stuff happening. One of the strangest things that appealed to Jessica and her cousin Isaac was a newspaper and under a picture of a mysterious shadow creature read the headline “Could this be the Idaho Ice Beast?” The two cousins set out the next day to go snowshoeing and look for the ice beast, but what actually happened was far beyond their imaginations. My favorite part of the book was the setting. The setting was in the mountains of Idaho and everything was covered in snow. I loved the way that story was built around the setting and that the setting played such a key part in the story. My favorite character throughout the book was definitely hands-down the Idaho Ice Beast. I thought that what the character throughout the book was really smart and kind of awesome the way it goes about its actions and how big of a role it was in the book. Otherwise I really liked the book because it was a great thriller and mystery story built into one. I would definitely recommend this book to teenagers who love to travel and read about weird mysteries.

Jessica and her cousin, along with their families, are on holiday at a ski resort in Idaho. When the two twelve year old take a detour from the snowshoe path they cross paths with ice beast. This is a chase story, one escape plan is put into action and fails, and that becomes a snowball effect through the story until the cousins are united with their fate.

Idaho ice beast fuels our fear of "what is out there and can it hurt us?" What would the reader do in that situation, well by chance the cousins find a cottage, a tree to climb, and remained generally unscathed by circumstances. Since this is a children's book, I suppose gruesome dismemberment is out of the question. These books do let kids tip toe into the kiddie pool of fear without making them afraid to drown. And adults can still read these for entertainment.
