Rate this book
In this book, Brendan Brazier, a successful professional athlete and renowned expert on the benefits of plant-based foods, presents the vegan diet he created for himself, and provides information on how to reach optimal health by following his diet. He credits his vegan diet for being able to significantly increase his performance as a professional athlete and to succeed in one of the world's most demanding sports. He has placed first at major marathon competitions and consistently places near the top at international Ironman triathlon events. He lectures regularly on the benefits of a vegan diet throughout the United States and Canada. Dr. Zoltan Rona, medical editor of the Encyclopedia of Natural Healing and author of the foreword of Thrive, highly recommends the book, and writes in the foreword, I think that after reading this book, you will no doubt be convinced that a plant-based whole foods diet is the true future of optimal health.

Best-selling author (The Thrive Diet, Penguin 2007) and professional Ironman triathlete, Brendan Brazier is the founder and creator of a raw, organic, whole food health optimizer nutritional porduct called Vega.

As one of the only professional athletes in the world with a solely plant-based diet, Brendan advocates the benefits of plant-based foods for both environmental and physical wellbeing. He was chosen as one of the 25 Most Influential Vegetarians by VegNews Magazine, the Top 40 Under 40most influential people in the health industry by Natural Food Merchandiser and has been nominated for the prestigious Manning Innovation Award twice for creating VEGA, his environmentally friendly and ultra-healthy line of natural food products made from plant-based superfoods. He modeled his products after the meals and snacks he made himself everyday, which were the key to his success as a professional vegan Ironman triathlete.

Brazier’s intentions of spreading the news on an ethical, environmentally friendly, and healthy lifestyle through plant-based foods have taken him across North America, speaking at events such as the Chicago Green Festival and to audiences such as the United States Congress. Brendan was also invited to speak at the 2008 Democratic Convention.

Among Brazier’s other achievements are his active involvement with healthy, ethical, and environmental initiatives such as a new exploratory adventure movie on health and wellness, ‘Back from the Edge’, and a photo feature alongside the likes of Barack Obama and Bill Maher in the Charity book ‘A Rare Breed of Love’ (Simon & Schuster) recently featured by Oprah Winfrey. brendanbrazier.com thrivediet.com myvega.com

I bough this book April 3 2013 and it took about 2 weeks to get where I live, the reason I bought this book among others was that that year and that month I decided that I will adopt a Vegan based diet, not lifestyle, I am still working on that, but a clean vegan plant based diet.
Being an amateur runner I wanted to make sure I got all the necessary nutrition as my training is concerned and this book solved all of my questions if training on a plant based diet is even impossible, well the answer is a big YES and even more I actually made better running records adopting this kind of diet than before when I was still eating flesh and processed food.
This book is gold for anyone that wants to have a healthy life and a healthy diet but also for someone that wants to exercise as well it gives you all the information to accomplish that.
Don't miss by the same writer the Thrive Fitness and Thrive Cookbook books they are amazing and full of everything you need to literally THRIVE on a plant based diet.
