Sophie is the somewhat unwilling owner of Palmetto Private Investigations, having taken over the business after her father’s death. It’s not that she doesn’t like her job, in fact she seems to thrive in it, but she was forced to give up college to run the business and keep her family afloat. Her business partner, Caleb, is a vampire who lives in her attic. He’s also her ex-fiance, who left her standing alone at the alter after he was changed into a vampire the night before their wedding. Oh, and ...more

My thoughts:
I am a Sherry Ficklin fan. I have read and reviewed two other books by her, Foresight and Secondsight. Because I already love the Gods of Fate series, I opened this book with an expectation that I don't experience when reading a new author. The expectation was great characters set in a well developed world bringing me a story that I wouldn't want to put down!
I was thrilled to once again find THAT story!
The characters are great! Sophie is fabulous. She is all about duty, family, sa

Born of Blood, by Sherry D. Ficklin isn’t just your average vampire book. Ficklin manages to write a love story, action, and plenty of sarcasm in this first edition of the Palmetto Moon series.

Sophie D’Angelo is a private investigator who is living with a vampire in her attic who happens to be her ex-fiancé. In this reality vampires live in the open among the undead. Caleb, her ex-fiancé, was turned into a vampire the night before their wedding and he’s been living as her friend in her attic eve

Really loved this book! I cried for Sophie and Caleb. I have already bought book two!
It did not live up to my expectations, but it wasn't all bad.

Rather short story, could have been the intro to something huge.
