Recommends it for: Visitors to Arran
Very readable, and a good introduction to this three-road island. If you are to see anything much of Arran, you will need to walk; where you can enjoy spectacular changes of scenery between the northern Highlands and the Lowlands to the south.

This book, though now very out of date, remains a good source of ideas to the hill- and coast-walker. The detailed map of the 360 degree view from the top of Goatfell is worth taking to the summit; though like as not you'll find yourself in mist.
