When the Old Man wakes up he is convinced that he may be eighty years old, but he is wrong. He's actually dead, a long time ago, under circumstances which have been somewhat forgotten. He has the face and energy (and perhaps the instincts too) of a young man of about twenty, and this is very perplexing. Maybe it’s time to start a new life? His country, Italy, and his land, Tuscany, are still recognisable or are they changed forever?
You would be shocked too, if you had been dead for more than three hundred years.
