Honestly, these are better than the mainstream KNIGHTS OF THE DINNER TABLE comics as it follows Patty, Sarah, and Eddie "Tank" in their book club. Part of it is probably due to how mean spirited the main comic can sometimes be with how awful a DM BA felton is and how antagonistic his players are. Here, Sarah and Patty want to introduce Eddie to better fiction but Eddie has HORRIBLE taste. For instance, he's the kind of guy who complains about the magic systems in fantasy novels. I'd say he's an exaggeration but he's not remotely.

Some genuinely hilarious moments throughout this book.

From the universe of Knights of the Dinner Table comes a book club the likes this world has never seen. While all of the strips were funny, some of the end ones, such as the notebook Neil Gaiman strip were unbelievably entertaining. All in all its short and sweat and well worth the read.

OK. Yes, I read Knights of the Dinner Table, the consummate nerd-comic. The Java Joint is "just" a compilation about one side-strip from KoDT. But it captures the essence of socializing around shared media experiences, which is what we are doing right now with Goodreads.com. So it seemed worth a mention. If you've ever been in any book club, or even just aspired to be in one, this will capture the essence for you. And along the way you'll have a few laughs. Let your nerd out! You don't have to read KoDT to enjoy this compilation.

A fun look into the book club run at the local Java Joint by three very different and interesting characters from the very long running Knights of the Dinner Table comics. If you aren't a fan you will miss a few things. If you aren't a nerd/geek you most likely won't appreciate a goodly amount of the story.

A worthwhile read for longtime fans but not a necessary one.
