I found Justice Beyond Law to be an entertaining page turner, however, it was over the top in terms of believability. Kind of like a combination between fantasy and thriller.

I entered a Goodreads giveaway for Shades of Justice, but received a copy of Justice Beyond Law instead. I mention this to explain (1) that I received a free review copy of the book and (2) that the book I received was different from the one named in the giveaway. This didn't influence my review, but I did find it odd.

A good book written by a retired CIA agent. Makes you wonder how much of this stuff really happened or could happen. Love the dog, Shadow, and like that there's romance but it doesn't distract from the missions. Everything that happens leads to something else, so the book flows well, has lots of action and is hard to put down.

The story is very good but the author did not fully develop the story in many locations. Too often I was saying to myself, "a real person would not react that way" or "how did that happen." As frustrating this was to me, I still enjoyed the book and I'm planning to read the second book in the series.

Great read. About the time I thought things were written too easy, the author tripped me up with true thriller moments. Really enjoyed this book.
