Where do I start with this? I guess by saying straight away that not everyone will like this book. It goes beyond those little icky parts that some books have, not by stepping around them, but by trudging right through. It crosses boundaries I have not seen crossed in most books I have previously read. It doesn’t glorify the behavior it contains, but Harlow doesn’t blink as she writes about things that will make you cringe in your chair. I started The Lion Man with the intention of reading a few pages before supper. I forgot about supper, in fact, I forgot about everything except for what was going on in this book. It didn’t pull me in- it dragged me in headfirst.
Toad was so horrible that I nearly cheered out loud at his end, but I kept thinking “What’s in the woods?” Then Shandie’s creepy dream of Toad had me questioning reality right along with her.

A virus hits, kills most and there are only a few women left on earth. We first meet Vaughn and Nicky. They talk excitedly about seeing a woman for the first time in months. Be prepared to sit on the edge of your seat for most of Book 2 in the Breeding Stock sequel. We're brought back to the post epidemic world where women are few and far between. Our hero's set out to save our heroine but may end up needing to be saved themselves. I loved this one just as much as I did the first but more on a suspense level.
