When the only thing that matters is revenge!

Through the Flames is a book that deals with revenge, plain and simple. Caleb, the protagonist of this story, has his world turned upside down when everyone in his small village is brutally massacred, and that unfortunately includes his family. Through the Flames is Ryne Billings' first novel and he shows a lot of potential. The story follows Caleb on his journey to avenge the slaughter of his village and everyone he knows. Finding his dying father among the burnt out remains of his village Caleb is given advice on how to get revenge. He is told of a magical sword hidden in the remains of his home that will bring him to the attention of someone who can tell him how to get the Sword of Kirakath. Ryne Billings' debut novel, THROUGH THE FLAMES, is about a good as a first fantasy novel from a young writer can be. Though the book contains some earmarks of a younger, less experienced writer, his mastery of storytelling basics is quite good, and his understanding of the fantasy genre is solid as well.

Ryne Billings was born on June 20, 1991 in the city of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, though he never lived there. He was raised in between Louisiana and Oklahoma, but Oklahoma is the only state he would call home. He is a graduate of Poteau High School and a sophomore at Carl Albert State College, majoring in English.
