Welcome to Zombie action, MAX style. In this four-issue limited series by Mike Raicht and Kyle Hotz, the dead roam the earth, a small town in New York State is under siege and human flesh is what's for dinner! And humanity's last hope is hiding out in a little rest-stop on Interstate 90. Barricade your doors and windows and get the guns loaded... hell is on Earth, and it just might be up to a man named Simon Garth to stop it... Collects Zombie #1-4.
This is a pretty typical zombie story, but for me it works. It's a reboot of the Zombie, Simon Garth, from the Marvel horror titles of the 1970s. This time there's a bank robbery and the robbers and their hostages end up in the middle of a zombie outbreak.
The Kyle Hotz art is tailor made for this type of story, and while the story does feel familiar, sometimes that's a good thing.
What starts as a bloody bank heist quickly turns into a battle of survival against a zombie horde created by a military accident. The story is a little re-tread of many already told zombie tales but it's an easy read and the art is pretty fun. Worth checking out.
The story starts out well, with the characters already on edge, even before the real 'action' begins. It's not the most original story out there, but it's pretty good and it delivers a nice plot in few pages. The art is very good and fit for the story. Really loved how the artist portraited the andvances of the 'disease', and the zombies were scary.
