Suzy is a little cat who lives on the coast of France, but one day she finds herself stowing away on a hot air balloon and travelling to England. Once there, she spends many days trying to work out how to get back across the Channel.

This is an enchanting book for young children. Suzy is a delightful character, polite and friendly but also determined and brave. The scrapes that she gets herself into while trying to find a way back to France are highly amusing, even to my 30-year-old self.

My Six year old baby boy just read this to me. It's the first time he has read a chapter book start to finish - he's a boy so he often reads a chapter of a book then gives up. Super proud Mummy :-)

An amusing story about a little cat called Suzy who lives on the French coast with her family whom she adores very much, especially the four sons: Pierre, Henri, Paul and most of all, Gaby. Gaby, the youngest of the brothers whom Suzy is particularly fond of, has a habit of stroking Suzy from tail to head but Suzy, being a unique cat, absolutely loves being stroked backwards; we are reminded of this throughout the story. When the boys were at school, an indignant Suzy has nobody to play with so ...more

Age - All ages to read to, years 2 and up to read independently if confident.

Suzy is a French cat who gets taken to England in an air balloon and spends the rest of the story trying to get home to her family across the Channel. All through the story she asks people "Chez moi?" in her 'funny meow' desperate for someone to understand her in this strange country. But no matter who she asks; surfers, young boys playing with boats and marines, no one can get Suzy home until a brave man swims the chan

Cute book about a cat called Suzy who falls asleep in a basket in France- was a hot air balloon and ends up in England. From that moment she wants to get home to her family. Nice French sayings in the book that children can repeat getting them to learn a language without them knowing it! The cat is very determined and brave and illustrates to children that you should never give up. I felt sorry for the English woman that looked after her and cared for her deeply as she would miss the cat if and ...more

Quite a wonderful children's book about a cat who gets lost and just wants to get back home. I listened to the audiobook and it's the same reader who also does The owl who was afraid of the dark - she's just marvellous with accents. The pussy in this story is French and the reader manages to make her "speak" French, quite cute really how Susie meows in French. My favourite character is the budgie Biff though - again the reader is great and has him speak in a hilarious voice. Had me cracking up e ...more

I admit to being a cat person and perhaps it wouldn't be such an enthralling book to someone who wasn't.

having first read the picture book to my son when he was young, it very quickly became a family favourite with us all joining in "chef moi, chef moi"

you very quickly fall in love with the cat and want her to get home to her family.

Story for young children about a cat trying to get home. This is probably my least favorite Jill Tomlinson book as its sad that the cat was lost and though she finds a sweet new family, always longs to go home.

She's adorable and so polite! I love this book! I read it when I was 6 or 7 and thought she was such a cutie! Shame my cat's don't like being stroked the wrong way! I recommend a read whatever age you are but the kids will like it more!

Read this in Primary 3 and I still think of it all the time — a fantastic yarn, with a lovable little cat called Suzy, and plenty of memorable characters besides!
