This was a childhood story that my mom read to me over and over again when I was a child, and I later read to myself when I was old enough to read. It is held very near and dear to my heart, even to this day. A truly unique story that everybody should read.

I received a copy of this book years ago from my Godmother. I read it to my daughter as she was growing up. The poetry is well written and the rhythm is excellent. The thing that hooked me was the illustration. The drawings are amazing. My daughter delighted in examining every inch of the pictures for tiny details. As a whole an excellent bed time story for any child.

A gem. The story, the inventiveness of rhyme and meter, the illustrations: all spot-on.
