This was a great book with an unexpected twist at the end. It had the whole Vampire Academy vibe to it, but the author made it her own.

I purchased this book on a whim based on the positive reviews of it. I didn’t have high expectations of it because we see these kinds of novels popping up a lot. Well, let me tell you that I was pleasantly surprised by Crossroads. Actually, I was more than pleasantly surprised. I was absolutely blown away! The premise of this book doesn't sound fresh: Girl has a

I don't think I've ever rolled my eyes at a book so much. I'm relieved it's over, to be honest. I might be being harsh here but I really didn't enjoy it.

What made this book so hard for me to read was the main character, Katia. Oh my god was she miserable. Yeah, I get it, you have a traumatic back story but god. Katia was never happy about anything. She joined Crossroads, a school for vampires, and was horrible to everyone, hated everyone and didn't even TRY. It got to the point where I preferre

Boarding schools, I'm so there. Once I started this book, I thought I knew what I was getting into. I did not. This book completely took me by surprised with elements I did not see coming.

What hooked my about this book is the plot line. A young girl getting sent to a boarding school And not just any boarding school, but a private one with nothing but vampires. On top of that, Katia is not all what she seems. I thought I knew her and knew where the plot is going when suddenly it took a twist reve

Crossroads begins when Katia is forced to attend by her uncle. He thinks it will do her some good to be around other vampires and to learn things. But they both know it won't be easy. However, Katia never expected to have to deal with the publicity and craziness of it either. Also, humans seem to be dying and it could be one of the vampires killing them. Now, every one is on edge, and Katia's secrets may start to come out.

This book was actually pretty good. I really enjoyed the main character. S

I wasn't sure how much I was going to like this book. I've been in a paranormal slump. I just haven't enjoyed many lately but thankfully this was a good read. It was quick and the story kept me intrigued. I will definitely have to check out the rest of the trilogy.

So, this book was one of those books that I kinda loved, and yet kinda didn't. It's hard to explain, so I will try in the best way that I can.

My biggest thing that I didn't like about this book was the way in which J.J. Bonds wrote Katia. Specifically making her hate herself so much because of what happened in her past, but never actually saying what had happened. I found that between that, her angst at her Uncle Aldo for not telling her something that was seemingly unimportant until the last co

After the Vampire tend started to die down in YA literature I began to peek my head out of the proverbial hidey-hole. Bouncing back into the subgenre, J.J. Bonds made my re-entrance a grand one. Crossroads gave me a confident feel once more for the lore of Vampires.

Going into this novel I had a tinge of Vampire Academy mixed with Vampire Knight going on along side me. The concept of bring vampires into a schooling facility to train them

Katia is starting a new chapter of her life at Crossroads Academy with a heavy secret weighing on her. She will not get close enough to anyone for them to figure it out. But as we all know kids can be downright ruthless. And the spoiled kids at Crossroads are no different. Sure they are interested in who Katia is and the mystery surrounding her but not enough where they will be sweet and welcoming. So when one girl is nice to Katia, it takes some time to form a friendship and open up to her. It ...more

High school is hard for everyone, vampires included. Throw in the fact that this a stuck up private school and things are even more bloodier. Katia is the new student, with family ties to a very powerful vampire but all she wants is to go unnoticed. But there is always that one girl or group of girls in high school that just loves to make someone's life a living hell. And let's not forget there is always a hot guy, Nikolai.

Yes it all sounds very high schoolish but it's not that bad of a read. If

I'm a big fan of vampire boarding schools books but I couldn't get into the novel at all. The characters seemed very flat and boring. The main character is very anti social but does open up after a while. Katia also has a big secret that she feels she can't share with anyone. I was curious to find out what that big secret was but not enough to continue the novel. I read in other reviews that it does gets better and that there is a big twist towards the end but my lack of interest in the characte ...more

This was a surprisingly great read! There was just enough question to keep me reading but didn't discourage me. The main character, Katia, is very likable and I'm excited to see where her and Nik go. The Counsel is also intriguing. I also liked the lore behind the school and such. There wasn't a whole lot of "WTF is that all about?" I will most definitely look for the sequel

Very good read! As I delved into the debut of the Crossroads trilogy, I found I could not put the book down. Very well written and the characters were fleshed out nicely. I will definately be looking forward to the next book in this series!

I honestly couldn't get into this book. It didn't interest me, I felt like I was sleepwalking but reading at the same time. :/
Sharithy (Artistic Myth)
It's been a while since I read a book where the heroine isn't stupid enough to keep questioning everything but neither is stupid enough to believe everyone. Nor was the heroine one of those who keeps crying for everything, and with everything I mean literally EVERY. SINGLE. THING. This book was a fresh air for me. The heroine, Katia, wasn't exactly perfect but I liked her, even though I shouldn't have.

It's good for a vampire story. I could have done without the typical mean girl duo that tends to plague school storys, but other than that,I truly enjoyed it. That's not to say there are no things to improve upon. Let's just say that I liked the setting, the characters, the plot and ending. There are no cliffhanger, nothing to push the reader to continue with series, basically you can read it as standalone and be overall satisfied. I will however continue on,just because I want more ...

This book felt like a really long introduction. I was waiting for it to pick up right up until the end when I realised that this was 'it'. I took an instant dislike to Katia, the main character. The implied tough past, which was hinted at but was incredibly obvious, didn't excuse that she was a bit of a bitch. She was super negative and judgemental. I just didn't click with this one.

Okay but not much oomph

Well, I finished it. I loved Katia's attitude and personality, but nothing happened that had me at the edge of my seat until the ending. And I was almost left thinking halfway through, what's the point of the story thus far? It does finally come 80% of the way in but it was just lackluster for me. I finished it, liked the main character. That was it.
Jennifer Burnett
It's okay

The book was very slow going. While I didn't ever think of not finishing it, it just wasn't all that exciting. It could have used more drama and action, training sessions weren't enough.
