“Sara” è un libro che ho scelto a braccio, a scatola chiusa, senza stare tanto a chiedermi perché. Come sempre direte voi.

Are you one of those people who often can guess the endings of books or solve the mystery before everyone in the book even has all the clues? Because the book is often that predictable?

Fear not. This book will leave you guessing until the end, and when all is revealed, you will be blown away.

Sara by Greg Herren is the story of Tony and his friend, Glenn. When Glenn decides to come out during the summer before school starts, Tony stands by him, but finds it difficult to accept the change. Neverth

This was one hell of a scary story, and I enjoyed every minute of being scared.

The cover suggests teen soap opera with a dash of semi-nude modeling. I mean, just look at that guy in that weird pose. What's going on with him? After reading the book, I guess he's supposed to be Glenn, but I still think this wasn't a great cover choice.

In Sara many things are happening - football player's best friend comes out, mysterious new student arrives, teens start dying - and all these events are somehow c

My Review:

I read the story description, and even though it's accurate, I had no idea what this book was about. You remember those horror movies you watched in high school where everyone kept dying? This is the book version of that...definitely a horror, but it was an entertaining one. It kept me riveted the whole time I read it.

At the heart of it all is Tony and his best friend Glenn. The summer before their senior year in high school, Glenn comes out of the closet. It's a surprise for everyone,

What starts off seeming like a coming of age story about Glenn coming out and how his best friend Tony and his football team mates handle it turns into a supernatural tale with a dark ending. When you first meet Sara you know there is something weird about her but you can't quite put your finger on it and when people start dying you start to wonder what she is up to. I really didn't expect the book to go where it did and I'm actually a little disappointed with the ending but the book kept me int ...more

This was an ARC provided via NetGalley.

Tony is best friends with Glenn. And now, it turns out, Glenn is gay. That seems like enough to deal with, but then things get weird at school. First, there's Sara: the beautiful new girl. That, and the bad things that keep happening to their friends.

This was, to begin with at least, refreshing. It was clearly and authentically 'teenaged', with some real mystery that kept me guessing. Unfortunately, that wasn't sustained for the whole book. The resolution t

I ordered this book because it was one of Herren's first published works. I can se how he developed as writer. The problem was the with the ending. It felt like he had to pull something out of a hat n order to make the story work.
