A collection of anecdotal stories, studies and commentary on the case of the eastern cougar, ie, its continued existence, which has not been proven. Cougars are around in places where they haven't been for a century or so, but where are they from? Released captives? Nomads from the west that have migrated east as the number of cougars has increased? Or a relic population of eastern cougars that never went extinct and is still around? Perhaps all three. Very enlightening and interesting book.

This is a good book for making the case that the Eastern Cougar, a thought to be extinct subspecies of the North American Mountain Lion (which is separate from the eastern subspecies of Florida, may still exist. If you're looking for book to detail evidence that supports this either way (the author does not give his opinion), this is the book for you. If you're looking to learn more about cougar habits, physiology, behavior and history; this book may fall short of what you're looking for.
