Although this book is labeled k-3 the suggestions can be applied to any grade level. I use many of Sharon Taberski's ideas in my high school reading classroom.

i am LOVING this book so far. taberski teaches at the manhattan new school, which is known for using awesome, child-centered teaching methods. in the first three chapters, she describes how she sets her classroom up and organizes things to teach children to read and write in intrinsically-motivated, authentic ways. i'm getting so many ideas for my future classroom!
