I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review

Rik is up to his neck in trouble again fighting another Elder race. This is where his destiny and life takes an abrupt turn because he is now one step closers to his full potential. This does not mean it will be easy, because he meets someone who comes really close to ending his life and the end results are shocking. Did I mention that the author also has an ironic sense of humor in these books. This is a logical progres

Once again, loved, loved the story--the world, the Elder race, the Quan this time, squid-like beings right out of Lovecraft.

Rik grows in power and abilities, but he remains a thief at heart, always happiest when he is slumming in the back streets of a new town. In this story he learns sorcery from his mentor Asea, and proves to be good at it. As a foil to him, the Terrarch Sardec's character also continues developing, one almost begins to like him.

I'm looking forward to the last book in the ser

The plot thickens this time around -- in addition to the adventures and Lovecraftian horrors of the previous installments, we start to see more political machinations and more hints that there's something larger brewing behind the scenes. Still fast-paced and still fun.
