This book studies the plural dimensions of diversity in multinational settings. In particular it considers the theoretical, institutional and legal conditions for the development of nations that are included within the boundaries of larger political institutions. It examines, on the one hand, how various political regimes manage multiple demands for recognition, and on the other hand, the impact of their respective approaches towards diversity on the stability of the state.
