Pondering Pig Newton
Jerry Stoll set out and succeeded in capturing San Francisco's Telegraph Hill and North Beach as they were in the latter days of the 1950s, the so-called "Beatnik" era. Loving, sympathetic, black and white photos, he also reveals the Italian and Chinese lives that are being lived in the same environs at the same moment. A lovely period piece.
