There wasn't a thing about this book I did not like. Beautifully written story about love, forgiveness, and family. I also loved the family tradition that takes place. It has such a beautiful meaning. I will defiantly be reading another Karyn Witmer book.

This was a good book. Gave such a clear picture thru multiple generations of family members how generational trauma affects the families. I was hooked on page 1 and read thru to the end in one sitting.

First time reader of Karyn Witmer and I will definately be looking for more books by her. This story caught me at the first page. It was written very nicely and the characters were real in the sense that between love, loss, family secrets and a history that holds the families together is unforgettable. The story line behind the cactus that has passed through four generations makes the story real. My own grandmother had a cactuss and passed one on to my mom and I have a cactus also. I loved this story and more than recommend it for a great read.

I just finished reading A Simple Gift by Karyn Witmer. Wow this was a good read. I bought the book in September on our trip to see Richard graduate from Basic, I wish I'd read it long before now. I'm hoping to see more from this author in the future. She wrote a book with vivid detail and very real characters. Its not a romance novel like I normally read, its more of a tale of real life.

I really enjoyed this book. Big message is about forgiveness. The main characters were well developed and likeable. This was actually the best part of the book for me - to see how the characters grew, their thought processes and emotions.

I have really liked the author's historicals (as Elizabeth Grayson) but I could not get into this story. I think this story could have been covered in a novella length. Not enough happens here. Just skimmed to the end.

Extremely excellent book. A heartwarming story of a family torn apart and their long journey back together with the help of a simple gift.

Great book. Kept me interested from the first page. Loved the story line ... about family, loss and reconnection to bring them all together for Christmas. Would recommend this book.
