I loved the map in the beginning of this book. I also loved the author's personalization of his travels. There are lot of pictures throughout as well, though the book overall seems a little disjointed or doesn't follow one theme...is it about the trail yesterday compared to today? Is it a pictorial representation of the trail? Is it diary entries from the trail? A little better flow or focus would make this book pretty great.

Fascinating paintings of then to compare to modern day photos in the same locations. Diary excerpts. Interesting book.
