You are told the ending at the beginning of the book and are led slowly through the novel learning how the events came to happen. I thought this book was difficult to read. It felt like the woman telling the story had ADD and was bouncing all over the place. It was ok. Just ok.

Not a fan of this one and I'm trying so hard to remember where I was recommended it - so that maybe I'll understand how it got on my list in the first place. I chose & began this title without much thought other than that it was free on kindle unlimited. I saw that it was a love/crime story involving a young female artist in Texas in the 1920's. The Mayor's Daughter is a great example of Hoggard's ability to develope a story that brings the reader into a relationship with the characters.

This was a very well written book. It revealed many of the tribulations of a troubled teen girl and the results of her behavior.
