I read this book as well as Hope For the Separated: Wounded Marriages Can Be Healed by Gary Chapman in the midst of a very painful separation from my wife. I highlighted numerous parts, underlined others, circled some sentences and put exclamation points next to them, and tagged the best parts. The Williams's tell their own story, which helps quite a bit. Their story was different in many ways than ours, but I could relate. I also knew that this wasn't simply some great philosophy; they had gone through it.

I found the advice given in the book VERY practical and helpful. I had fallen into some of the same traps in the middle of our separation as other people have, and I was convicted. This book helped me take on what I believe is the right mind-set and heart attitude to reconcile our marriage. This was hard--very hard--but I needed to be cut to the heart so I could change and our marriage could be resurrected.

If your marriage is struggling and even if it looks hopeless, take some time to read this boo as well as Hope for the Separated. More than anything, humble yourself, surrender what you want, and allow God to do what only he can do in your life and the life of your spouse.

My marriage is still in crisis, we are seperated, but I have hope that we will be reconciled and our marriage will be better and stronger with God by our side and as the head of our marriage. This is a book I will keep referring back to. Even if your marriage isn't in crisis, you should still read this book.

A book with advice for people undergoing separation or marriage break-down. Fairly heavily Christian in tone but maybe in a good way as it emphasised focusing on working on yourself and your relationship with God, rather than the broken relationship. I enjoyed the fact that they very honestly shared their own hardships and story which made it very real.

When I started reading this book, I had a difficult time relating with the authors. As I continued, I was able to find some tools that I found helpful after all.
