Animal Tracks & Signs of North America

Rate this book
The first book to include actual photos of wildlife tracks and sign in most cases, rather than sketches. The types of sign shown other than tracks are primarily droppings, rubbings, pawings and gnawings but other types of sign are also shown. This is the only book to cover some types of black bear sign. Something else that sets this book apart from others on the same subject is tracks, sign and sounds made by some birds are covered, too. There's also a chapter on sounds made by some mammals. Bonus chapters are about Aging Tracks, Tracking Wildlife and Taking Tracks Home.

Many of the photos of tracks in this book are shown in snow, but the impressions of prints in snow look similar to those in sand and mud.
