Discovering a magical brand of bubble gum that renders him invisible, Alex Parsell plans the adventure of a lifetime when he decides to play some exciting Halloween tricks, but his pranks backfire when he gets in over his head.
Margery Cuyler is the author of many books for children, including From Here to There, The Little Dump Truck, and That’s Good! That’s Bad! The idea for That’s Good! That’s Bad! was inspired by a conversation with her son, Thomas, who asked, "Can't bad things change into good things?" Ms. Cuyler grew up in the oldest house in Princeton, NJ, and started writing stories as soon as she learned how to write. She now lives in the same house with her husband, sons and two cats.
This book is so cute! I could compare it to the higher order thinking that my high school teachers expected from me but for third grade content. Did Alex change in the book? Should he want to hang out with his brother's gang?
It is funny when Alex plays tricks on his classmates, brothers and family. He can become invisible a certain kind of gum. He only got three pieces of it though and at the very end he didn't want the last piece of gum because he caused a ton of trouble. He gave the piece to his dog.
Alex thinks perhaps that he is going crazy. He has chewed gum before but it doesn't she will make it possible that she can lead in to problems but, on the night of Halloween, Alex gets in too over his head.
Alex finds some ZXO Double Trouble Bubble Gum and it makes him invisible. When he follows his brother and his friends on Halloween he finds out why it's trouble, and when he gives his brother a piece, it gets even worse. Ultimately, Alex realizes that having this power made it easy to go to far.
