Updated and expanded for 2005, The Practical Guide Maps includes all the principal areas of metropolitan Cairo and Giza - Downtown, Mohandiseen, Dokki, Heliopolis, Nasr City, Maadi, Giza, Zamalek, Islamic Cairo, Shubra, Manyal - and now contains new maps of the Pyramids Road and Faysal Road. The easy-to-use format and clear, uncluttered cartographic style make finding where you want to go a pleasure. Each page overlaps with adjoining pages - no more lost streets while turning the page! Indexes are provided for street names and places of interest, while symbols highlight notable landmarks and useful locations. And all this information is packed into a slim booklet of 56 pages - handy enough to take anywhere.
Not a book but an atlas - but since Cairo is a big city, it only includes those areas that the compilers thought would be of interest to ex-pats (the intended audience). Those areas that are included have all streets shown (as far as I can tell) which is certainly helpful. Street names are given only in transliteration, not in Arabic.
Perhaps the positive feature is that it is a convenient size for carrying.
