The Haj covers the history of an Arab family living in Palestine during the time after WWI and the establishment of Israel. It follows the evacuation of the family during the time between the Arab -Israel wars through the refugee camps in area. It is told by the youngest male of the family (Ishmael) and his impression of his own Arab culture and the Jews. I was amazed at the apparent lack of love in this culture.
