Enjoyed this book immensely as it was refreshing to have the two main characters not be attracted or have fallen in love right from the start. It was also much more interesting to have the setting be right at the climax of the war with Napoleon - the battle of Quatre Bras and Waterloo where the characters are located in Brussels, only a few miles away from the action. Written in 1986, this historical is different than recent books, in that the vocabulary is excellent, with words writers might not use today, such as perambulation and others, plus the history of Wellington fighting Napoleon in Brussels is quite well done. The blurb in the back has nothing to do with the actual book (my daughter read the blurb and said is this the correct book?)
