In her new middle grade chapter book, “Walking Through Walls,” Karen Cioffi takes you on an incredible journey with her main character, Wang. He longs to learn the magic of the Eternals.

Excerpt: "Twelve-year-old Wang longed to be an Eternal. He craved wealth . . . and power. Spending his time learning about these mystics took his thoughts away from the certain fate of slaving in the wheat fields all his life, like his father. The wheat fields might be good for some, but not for Wang. He had hig

This is a book for young people who like to read chapter books that aren’t too long and have the occasional illustration. The story takes place in ancient China. A 12-year-old boy, Wang, does not want to spend his life working in the fields like his father. He leaves his family in order to find the legendary Eternals, learn magic, and become rich and powerful. When he tells his father this, his father responds, “Wang, we do not believe in the legend of the Internals. You are giving into foolish ...more

This was an excellent chapter book read which can be read in one sitting, even for hard readers like me. I didn't want to put it down.

The story is about 12 yr. Wang who is from China. He hates working in the wheat fields with his father because it is just too hard. He is enthralled by a dream he has about the Chinese legend of the Eternals who have magic powers. He believes that if he can just get to the place where they train Eternals, that he will become wealthy with all his new magical power
