Annie Brenton didn’t feel safe. It seems that someone is stalking her place at night. Worse, whenever she calls the local law enforcement of the town she lives in, they never find anyone or anything wrong. This causes the sheriff and others in town think that she’s imagining her stalker, except she isn’t.
One night, she encounters another problem. When she sees an image of a big man out in her greenhouse, she races back indoors to grab a knife to protect herself. But her “stalker” follows her an

What do you get if you take a mystery stalker, a hot man, two adorable kids, a big, protective dog and a river that scares you? A really good, thrilling page-turner with many sexy “oooo” moments and adorable “awww” moments.

Luke is an ex-Navy Seal running from a past that is trying very hard to catch up with him. He is self-assured while still vulnerable and caring enough to question his own motives and how his actions will impact oth

Kathleen Mix’s fifth romantic suspense, RIVER OF FEAR (Wild Rose Press, 2011), plays out, like her previous four, before a backdrop of sailboats and the sea. Fear wastes no time in presenting itself: On page one, in the teeth of a thunderstorm, Annie Brenton glimpses a prowler outside her home—the unknown stalker who has been harassing her is becoming bolder. Annie’s farm lies along a river and as the lightning flashes, she also sees a sailboat drop anchor in her cove to ride out the storm. Ente ...more

River of Fear is both character and plot driven, with plenty of twists and turns to keep a reader engaged. I most definitely was. I prepared myself for a romantic suspense, but River of Fear is so much more. Not only does it have its suspense factor, but I was so caught up in the characters that I forgot about everything else around me. I knew Annie and Luke had their secrets, and I was drawn to Luke’s two wonderful children. This story is about second chances, finding love when you least expect ...more

This is the first I have read from Kathleen Mix and have to say it was really good. I loved that Annie is a simple woman trying to live a normal life. Yet her past and fears haunt her everyday. Now Luke is a man but a father first of everything always protecting his children first. When these two get together well Kathleen Mix sure puts tons of obstacles in their way. I loved that not only is i

This is the second book that I read by this author, whom I met at my hotel while staying in Virgina Beach. This is a book I bought for my best friend and choose it for the story line since her son is in the Navy. This book was a fast read and kept me wanting to keep reading that I finished it in one day. Both books I purchased where signed by the author who made the experience even more personal. I will continue to read books that she writes!!!

Recommends it for: Lovers of romantic suspense
Romantic suspense is my favorite genre. I love that sensation of wondering what's coming next, even when all seems safe...or not! Add romance into the mix, and it's my perfect getaway read. With RIVER OF FEAR, Kathleen Mix delivers on both counts. The action kept me turning the pages, and the romance had me falling in love. I enjoyed how she incorporated all that sailing lingo too without bringing in details that would bore a non-sailor like me. Nice job!
