Lies, deceit and murder ran rampant throughout the city of Atlanta. Real and his lady, Constance, were living in the lap of luxury, with fancy cars, expensive clothes and a million dollar home until someone close to them alerted the feds to their illegal activity. At the blink of an eye their perfect life was turned upside down. Just as Real was sorting things out on the home front, the head of Miami's most powerful Cartel gave him an ultimatum that would eventually force him back into the life he had swore off forever. Knowing this lifestyle would surely put Constance in danger, he made plans to send her away until the score was settled but things spiraled out of control. Now Real and Constance are in a fight for survival where friends become enemies and murder is essential. Atlanta's underworld to Miami's most affluent community—no stone was left unturned as Real fought to keep Constance safe while attempting to regain control of the lifestyle he once would kill for. From the city of Atlanta to the cell block of Georgia's most dangerous prison, life under the City Lights would never be the same.
Real and Constance are a power couple. Real has made a very good living for himself in the drug trade and his legitimate business, the G-Spot, an upscale strip club. By his side, Constance is making a name for herself as a realtor dealing only with high-end real estate. In an attempt to get Real out of the way, Constance is kidnapped and everything goes terribly, terribly wrong from there.
Emphasis on the superficial and superfluous - big booties, comparisons to actresses like Lisa Raye and Lauren London, exotic features, green eyes, light brown eyes, wavy hair, expensive foreign cars, and million dollar mansions – yep, it’s all here in George Sherman Hudson’s “City Lights.” Add drug dealers, some strippers and Italians and you have a very typical street tale. “City Lights” was almost a very typical street tale but managed to stay afloat with a good storyline, underlying subplots, interesting characters, good pacing and just enough drama/action. Murder and mayhem, greed and betrayal, love and lust, lies and distrust keep readers intrigued. However, also typical of many books today, there were editing issues ranging from lack of punctuation to word confusion (to/too, was/were).
Though overridden by the obvious, what was good and the potential of more saved this read. Not one for sequels (just say no to sequels!), I am looking forward to seeing what happens next. My suggestion for the author/publisher is to seek the assistance of a good and qualified copyeditor and to do away with the trite clichés. There was a good story here, stick with that and leave the unnecessary behind.
And one more thing…I don’t know what this book’s title had to do with anything. Well, two things…the synopsis didn’t quite match the story either.
Go down to the dirty south streets of Atlanta with Real and Constance as they show you what real living is like. With Real making money in the streets and Constance being a Real estate owner these two want for nothing. When Real is given and ultimatum from the Miami cartel he knows life is not going to be the same for them. Soon they world come crashing down when they find out that a snitch is among them. What would you do when your world is changing and your life is filled with nothing but lies, deceit, and murder and all you can think bout is getting revenge for those who matter most?
City light is straight fire from the first page it kept my attention. I could not put this book down.I love the fact that I felt apart of each character life, it was like every situation they were it I was right there front and center.Mr. Hudson you really did you thing in this book and I cant wit to read more in Lights out.
Wow! this was my first time reading from George Hudson, not too sure why ive been putting it off, but im glad that I took the time to move this book up on my list to read. I really enjoyed this book. Reading the book I went through some of the motions with the characters, I was shaking my head, cursing some of them out so thats how I know the book was a good one.
The book deals mostly with the main character Real, who is just living the life in ATL. He is very well off with expensive clothes, million dollar house, various cars to choose from and of course he has his very special woman who is willing to ride or die for him. Of course Real is dabbing into a bit of illegal activities and feels he is doing everything right by being low key and only trust very few people and trying to keep his hands clean while in the game. That is until someone unsuspected doesnt follow one of the rules in the game... NO Snitching. When Real finds out that someone is talking is it too late for him? Out for revenge on anyone who has done him wrong, Real is ready to bring back the "old" him and do what he has to do in order to avenge a lot of things that has gone wrong. From the streets to the cell nothing will be left unturned.
This book was fast paced, I read it in two days I just needed to know what would happen next and what the outcome would be. I couldnt believe how easy it was for the snitch to do do what he did, but as we all know Karma is always lurking so does the snitch get what they deserve? Real and Constances relationship waas such a good one. It surely wasnt the typical relationship thats shown in books, and she was all for her man a true definition of a ride or die chick for her man. The love they have for each other is nice i think these two are one of my favorite couples.
I did see some small minor editing issues nothing too major that took away from the book but like a sentence wrong word a few times or like levaing out a word like it said "so you finally made, huh?" left out it. Just really small stuff here or there but again didnt take away from the story and I enjoyed it.
I dont want to say too much but if your looking for a story that is fast paced, full of drama, lies, deceit and betrayal then this is the story to read! I will be reading part 2!
City Lights by George Sherman Hudson tells the story of Real and his fiancé Constance. Real is a big time drug dealer in Atlanta. There is nothing that they don't have and nothing they can't get until everything comes tumbling down around them. People that was once in their corner have turned their backs on them, revenge is sought against them, and deceit comes from every angle. Real isn't going down without a fight and he is determined to murder anybody in his path.
This is my second read by George Sherman Hudson and I have officially become a fan. This story was thoroughly developed and well thought out. From beginning to end this book kept my attention and kept me wanting more. I did not want to stop reading until I completed the book because I wanted to make sure that I did not miss anything. I couldn't wait to see what would happen to these characters from one chapter to the next. I will be continuing with this series to see what happens next.
Very good read! The author did a very good job of weaving in and keeping the flow of several different characters and story lines. There were some grammatical/punctuation errors BUT they did NOT take away from my enjoyable reading experience at all! Real was minding his own business and enjoying the fruits of his labor until one day outside forces rock his boat totally! All hell begins to break loose in Real's world and his carefully built foundation starts to crumble quickly! Real refuses to be buckle and makes the decision to handle things his way but once he does things head downhill very quickly!
*Still wondering why the book is entitled CITY LIGHTS though???
This was the first book that I've read by George Sherman Hudson and I absolutely loved it! The story line was on point! It was full of betrayal, deceit, revenge, disloyalty, greed, love and murder. What more can you ask for in one book? The grammar and editing was perfect. Real was my favorite character and I can't wait to read the next book. I am sure he is going to seek revenge on those who have deceived him and killed the love of his life, Constance.
George Sherman takes his readers for a ride painting a vivid picture with each scene he writes. Real's hustle game was on point but an unexpected envious character messed it up for him! W/ back to back action & scenes that pull you in and making you feel as if you're the main characters, this book deserves 20 stars! It was a Banger, on to part2! Light's Out..!
I really didn't think the cover was appropriate for the book. With that being said I really enjoyed City Lights. I can't wait to see what's next for Real. This author made you want to read on to see just what would happen next. Kudos to Mr. George Sherman Hudson.
I love Real & Constance relationship they're an awesome and powerful couple. I love the story line and all the action. I can't wait for pt 2 Light's Out the action and drama continue's. A must read I give City Lights 5 stars.

started off kinda crazy but by the middle I was hooked and now I need to get part 2 so the Author definitely did his job! I gave this book 4 stars because I had trouble with keeping up with the characters but other than that it held my attention which is hard to do...
Good read. Real is a ,am on a mission now that the person closest to him was murdered. They respected and loved each other. Can't wait to see what happens now that real is released from jail and wants revenge.
Damn......This book was FIYAH......Real had everything he needed but down the road his homey went and broke the street code Constance was Real's ride or die chick she was on the high end of real estate sales I would love to tell the story but you have to read it for yourself
This book really took me by surprise. I wasn't expecting to like it so much but I did. I was hooked. All of the characters were well developed. Can't wait to read part 2.
