A serviceable romance, first in a series, but a bit long-winded toward the end. And, to be honest, forgiving the person who murdered your family is not something I see as desirable. I would want justice, at least. I can see letting go of revenge, but a murderer should not be left loose.

I am surprised this book has so many high ratings so I guess perhaps part of the problem with this one is me.

I picked this up from the library because I thought oh Native Americans and shifter maybe a good story. I got a bad version of Zorro with a lot of clumsy writing and a love affair that fell flat.

The story is about a man named Reno, who is a military dude and like the best sniper but one day the general kills his wife and kid. Reno threatens the general and gets thrown into jail with a tw

So, if you write a story with a little bit of a supernatural theme and add a little romance, no matter how bad the plot, you can actually sell copies. I found this book to be simple, almost plotless (wait, do I mean pointless?), and very very repetitive. Quite a few times I turned the page and found myself reading their thoughts, or what someone had just been saying, that was identical to the page before. Oh but wait, BONUS- the book was so quick to read that I had hardly started before it was b ...more

This was an interesting and fun read. I loved the characters and the suspense. Then ending was perfect and definitely piqued my interest. I would most definitely like to read more in this series. There were emotions, a little steaminess, bad guys you get to hate, shifty people, good personalities and side characters. I definitely liked the basis and feel of this book. The cultural/mythical touch kept me interested and had me reading more. I can't wait to see the journey for the other couples and ...more

I like that the icky-romance-ness was sort of tempered by the save-the-world-ness, but the icky-romance-ness was just too much. Conversations about the characters' feelings for each other got all mushy-gush and power-ballad-y. It didn't flow right to me, and the one would have a whole monologue and then the other would have a whole monologue that had almost nothing to do with what the first one said. It didn't work for me. I liked the idea, though. And the heavy- and light-energy idea that shows ...more

I liked this book overall. I felt that the story was interesting and unique. Unfortunately, I thought that the author was a little repetitive in her descriptions in parts of the story. Also, the author made a point of describing the immediate attraction between the two main characters, however, built the romance itself a little to slowly. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

I enjoyed this book when i read it last year but now I'm reading McKenna's "Heart of the Jaguar" and I keep getting the feeling of de ja vu. But then I thought back an I think of this book. There are a lot of similarities and feeling of repetition. It it kind of making it hard to read "Heart of the Jaguar".

I've lived six lives in one and it all shows up in the books I write, one way or another.

I was always a risk taker and broke mustangs at thirteen years old in Oregon. I learn to break them with love, not threat or pain.

At 17 years old, I picked night-crawlers (worms) out in our Oregon orchards from 9pm to midnight, every night. I earned enough money to buy my school clothes and book. I also plunk
