This is a wonderful story about a new baby in the family. The parents tell the older sibling about the joys of having a new baby. The most important thing is that the family loves the baby and that the baby loves the family
The illustrations are done in pastel colors that are typically associated with babies. The family featured in the story is made from cut paper. The multicultural family is depicted doing many things with the baby together as a family.

A simple and basic baby prep book. The words are repetitive and simple for the youngest readers. Many activities about how to care for the baby are illustrated, and the older child is always present, even if not helping. A beautifully illustrated books showing an older sibling involved in the new baby's care. I love that the toddler is shown as being an integral part of the family, while acknowledging the responsibilities a new baby brings. An ideal introduction to a new sibling for toddlers!

Special aspects worth mentioning is the delightfully multiracial family, the gender neutrality of the children, and the equal involvement of both parents in childcare.

This book was very basic. I don't believe that a lot of children would like this book, it is not intricate enough within it's literature to cause children to be engaged by the book. It was not a very detailed book and I did not like it very much. But I do believe that it could open up the mind to children who's families are about to have a new member and how they treat their new loved one. ...more
Great art - cute family.

This book is a little more simplistic in its approach than I had hoped, but Edward loves it: I just hope it does its part in helping to prepare him for our forthcoming arrival!
