Gary Richter writes for the regular pet lover to outline a variety of pathways to use in improving a cat's good health. There is a handy synopsis of supplements and descriptions of benefits and practical use, also a review of medical testing available today and in the near future. The book discusses allopathic methods, nutrition, life style, exercise, and regenerative treatments. Incidentally, a lot of this information sounds like that which is suggested for humans. So reading this cat focused health book serves as a nice refresher of human good health tenets. There are many great suggestions to help a beloved cat enjoy a long vibrant life in this helpful book.

There were solid sections with useful information (like the tenets of aging), but honestly I was extremely disappointed by this book. The majority of the book was about "options" for prolonging life that either are only available for humans, and/or have not actually even been considered for cats yet. As an ethical scientist, you cannot claim something will work great for cats when no studies have been completed on it & you have no data to prove the claim. People picking this book up are picking it up for a reason, we don't care what is "on the horizon" or "hopefully going to happen in the future", we want useful things that are currently available. Some of that was there, but like I said, the majority was babble about future wishes that haven't even started work with cats & the ridiculous ideal of achieving immortality. Almost all of the futuristic "options" provided were things being conducted or studied for humans. Cats are not humans, & a multitude of things safe for humans can kill cats. I don't need immortality for humans, I need realistic options for healthy care for my geriatric cat.
