Recommends it for: frustrated adults with a sense of humor
A pleasurably crude collection of rants and wisdom, sure to prompt guffaws, smiles, and nods of sympathy. Hate Mail is interactive on so many levels, inviting the reader not only to relate to the terribly amusing situations, but to also become physically connected to the book. The fonts have personality, red raw cursive scrawled atop blocky weathered caps, while the page layout is like a perverted version of those corny notecard collections you see for sale in Hallmark stores. Even though there's vocabularly I don't care to use in my everyday conversation, the idea of this book is quite amusing. The greeting card industry has cards for many situations... but sometimes there aren't cards to say what you REALLY feel.

For instance, there is a card "I hope you enjoy your retirment. [Inside:] I sure as hell will." Or "God doesn't need door-to-door sales. [Inside:] Your method demean your message."

NOT for the faint of heart (don't show your mother), but excellent dark humor. The author felt that the greeting card industry failed to produce cards for the most difficult feelings to express: the negative ones. The "recipients" for the cards range from a "loose," dramatic roommate to an obnoxious cat.
