Always an adventurer in life as well as writing, New York Times best-selling author Cherry Adair moved halfway across the globe from Cape Town, South Africa to the United States in her early years to become a interior designer. Now a resident of the Pacific Northwest she shares the award- winning adventures of her fictional T-FLAC counter terrorism operatives with her readers.

Cherry settled in beautiful San Francisco, where she started what eventually became a thriving interior design business. "I loved being a designer because it was varied and creative, and I enjoyed working with the public." A voracious reader when she was able to carve out the time, Cherry found her brain crowded with characters and stories of her own. "Eventually," she says, "the stories demanded to be told."

When asked why she chooses to write romantic action adventure, she says, "Who says you can’t have adventure and a great love life? Of course if you’re talking about an adventurous love life, that’s another thing altogether. I write romantic suspense coupled heart-pounding adventure because I like to entertain, and nothing keeps readers happier than a rollercoaster read, followed by a happy ending."

Popular on the workshop circuit, Cherry gives lively classes on writing and the writing life. Pulling no punches when asked how to become a published writer, Cherry insists, "Sit your butt in the chair and write. There's no magic to it. Writing is hard work. It isn't for sissies or whiners."

Cherry loves to spend time at home. A corner desk keeps her focused on writing, but the windows behind her, with a panoramic view of the front gardens, are always calling her to come outside and play. Her office has nine-foot ceilings, a fireplace, a television and built-in bookcases that will house approximately 3,500 paperback books.

"What can I say? My keeper shelf has been breeding in the middle of the night, rather like drycleaners' wire clothes hangers.”

3 ½ Stars! Not quite as good as the first two books in the series. A very slow start and it seemed to take forever for the story to kick in. The first few pages were exciting and then…screeeeeech…it came to an abrupt halt. The plot became stagnant and I wanted the excitement to kick back in. I knew it would, that’s why I stayed with it; I just wish it didn't take so long. The characters were interesting enough, Dani was fun, spunky and had a wild back story that brought her to the Sea Wolf. Logan is the oldest of the Cutter brothers, he’s got the trademark dark hair, deep blue eyes, very intense and protective, just delish! There was a strong attraction between the two of them, but I found myself willing them to take it to the next level. I have to say though, when they finally acted on their desire for one another…they brought it home!!! The impenetrable Logan was brought to his knees and Dani finally got a man she was so deserving of, they were a dynamite couple.

”She tasted of the pineapple they’d shared for breakfast, and rich coffee. She tasted, Logan thought, brushing her hair from her eyes, like the love of his life.”

I loved the crew on the ship, namely Logan’s best friend the wise-cracking, sexy Jed and the sweet, kind huggable teddy bear of a man, Wes. I’m hoping that Jed gets a book, which seems likely, as his attraction for the redheaded captain of the Sea Witch was hinted at in this book, but not acted upon nor resolved. Dog, the ship’s resident pooch, gave the book some amusing moments, especially Dani’s attempt to “re-name” him!

Bottom line, it’s a good addition to the series, but it could have been better. The setting for the book is rather unique, a salvage ship hunting for treasure in an exotic location, pirates stalking their every move. Sexy men traipsing around in swim trunks and wet suits, these guys live for the thrill of the dive, but barely made it into the water. So much to go on, unfortunately it wasn’t used in the plot!

Logan “Wolf” Cutter- dark-haired with the face of a pirate, the shockingly blue eyes of a fallen angel, and the mouth of a sinner, he looked virile, predatory, and dangerous as hell.

Sadly, not my favorite of the series. I had high hopes for this one too, especially after reading the first two. Maybe Cherry Adair set the bar too high? Whatever, I just never fully believed in the romance between the leads, treasure hunter Logan Cutter and art gallery owner Dani Rosado.

Dani...

Logan...

Don't get me wrong, parts of it were very entertaining, and CA's writing had me turning the pages. But I had problems with the speed of the romance between the H/h. Logan just seemed to be acting out of character when he fell so quickly for Dani. For a guy who never had a special relationship in the past, and seemed to be all about diving and his job as head of Cutter Salvage, and who was described as a "lone wolf", and who hated lies/liars...well, he let Dani get away with lies, he was intrigued enough by her to risk his life and the life of his crew to help her (she had a craaaaazy "Kennedy-esque" US Senator ex-boyfriend out to get her), he no longer wanted to be alone, and diving wasn't enough for him. Which was all well and good, but I just didn't see that happening to him in such a short span of time.

This bowl contained some important clues...

The sex scenes? Well done, with plenty of steam. If I had believed in the romance...they would've scorched the pages.

Logan and Dani had plenty of steamy encounters...

Logan's dog, "Dog", had plenty of page time...

The suspense? Well...not much to speak of at first. Towards the end of the book things started to take off--and even members of T-FLAC were brought in to protect Dani (Hello, Derek Wright!).

Derek! Wish you did a better job in this book...
Photobucket
Sadly, they didn't do a very good job.:( But just as the suspense really started cooking, it ended rather abruptly with a thud. What? That's all?

The good news? The series isn't over yet, even though we've run out of original Cutter brothers (there is a just discovered Cutter bro waiting in the wings, though). I'd also love to read a story about Logan's friend Jed, and one involving the redhead from the rival "Sea Witch" (can't remember her name, but I have a sneaking suspicion that she might be their long-lost sister).

So, maybe this one didn't live up to the standard Cherry Adair set with the first two. It was still an enjoyable read, and I do enjoy the whole treasure-hunt premise of the series. I just hope she gets back on track with the next one. 3 1/2 stars

This book could have easily been 5 stars across the board for me except it took me a short bit to get grabbed into the book. Once the story started going it grabbed me big time.

I loved reading how Logan, Daniela and Logan's team went about looking and finding the treasure. These types of story's always fascinate me.

The action in this book was as good as it gets making the story very exciting.

I was very happy that Cherry kept the bedroom door open once these two finally got their hands on each other. Logan was so patient and caring with Daniela and it was very romantic and nothing over the top for the readers who like their romances sweet.

The bad guy was a real creep and did terrible things to the heroine. I was so happy when he got his comeuppance in the end.

OK so another big reason I took a 1/2 star off of the book was because we know Logan and his crew did find the treasure but once the big action started, the treasure was not mentioned again. I would have loved it if Cherry would have add just one more chapter before the ending that included Logan and his team retrieving the rest of the treasure and of Logan winning the bet made with his brothers because he found the biggest treasure.

That being said the very ending was FANTASTIC and we got a short but sweet visit with Zane, Teal, Nick, Bria and of course Jonah. Speaking of Jonah, I was happy to see that Cherry has another book in this series coming out Spring of 2013 called Stormchaser and of course it will be Jonas's story. You can bet that I'll be reading it when I can get my greedy hands on it.

The violence in this book bothered me and I really didn't want a description of the villain's sick sexual exploits, beyond that I found the book okay.

This is Logan's book, the eldest Cutter brother, he's responsible and loves running the business and hates liars and his BS meter starts running the moment he rescues the heroine from the sea and she fakes amnesia.

The heroine is in a world of trouble, she ran from her ex to her criminal cousins who threw her over-board so that she could lead the hero to a ship they wanted him to salvage. She lies at the start and feels terrible about it and then she confesses part of the truth, about her cousins and the treasure.

I have seldom read about a more creepier villain than the heroine's ex and his position of power made him even more creepier. All in all not Cherry's best, it had great sexual tension but parts of it grossed me out, I just haven't been feeling that much of romantic suspense lately and the graphic things bothered me plus I was also bored in the middle.

Well goodness this was not good. It started out good. Fun, fast moving story. Really kept me interested. I liked the characters and the setting. Would have liked more in the treasure hunting, but still I was enjoying the story.

Until just after the halfway point. Then we get the details on the bad guy. Ugh. Nothing ruins a story quicker than a bad guy who's so very bad that he's just plain stupid. It was as if every cliche and foolish bad guy trope was thrown in. And of course all his people around him are bad and they support the bad guy. Ugh. I couldn't wait for it to be done.

Really disappointing because it didn't have to be this bad.

Well written romance/adventure. Lots of action on a treasure salvage ship off the coast of South America. There are steamy romance scenes, bad guys with guns, a heroine on the run from an abusive ex, and a sexy hero that dives for treasure for a living. This book is a reissued 'blast from the past'. 🙂

This was a struggle for me to finish. It was boring, neither of the leads pulled me into the story. I did feel for Daniela and what she went through, but the bad guys were just over the top crude and disgusting - and not in a good 'pull you into a suspense story' kind of way.

Disappointing read that didn't appeal to me at all. Not sure if I'll pick up the next book in the series.

Sad that this is coming to an end. I liked that despite Logan's rabid thing about lies Dani's past wasn't made into a stupid melodrama.

"You lied to me."
"But I love you"
"I can never love you back"*

You know what I want? I want Jonah to get a book and hook up with the Sea Witch.

*totally not in the book

Good book that takes place on the seas. It's a steamy adventure to keep you entertained. Logan and Daniela are great together. It's not my favorite of the series, but I'm glad that I read it since it fits perfectly with the others.

Well, like the first two books in this series, this one didn't disappoint either. Except for one thing. The last two books won't be released until later this year. Soo boohoo, I've gotta wait to read them, but then again, lookin on the bright side, I have them to look forward to. Soo, let's turn that into a positive....Yay!

This story is about yet another Cutter brother, Logan....his crew, his million dollar boat, and the mysterious but lovely woman, Annie, they found half drowned out at sea. Logan sure didn't know what he was getting into when he rescued her! She keeps him on his toes by trying to figure out what her story is.

By the time Logan does figure Annie out, he's completely enamored with her and ready to help her out in any way he can. That may include bodyguards, special ops men, a small war, explosives, a corrupt senator (what's different about that huh), a kidnapping, attempted murder, drugs, murder, and lots of steamy hanky panky in between. Oh, and there's a wedding of a couple we know & love (if you've been following the series)0..

Before I forget, Annie isn't really Annie after all! Sound slightly crazy, yeah it is, just a bit. Plus, there still is a story of how several ships sunk and the beautiful treasure to be salvaged from one of them.

I can't wait for more later this year! One's about their mysterious newfound brother, Jonah, that they didn't realize they had.

Vortex is the third book in Cherry Adair's Cutter Cay series. This series is about a family of brothers who own a treasure hunting business, as in sunken treasure. Vortex features the oldest brother, Logan. While Logan is out seeking a treasure near Lima, thanks to Dog, he discovers a woman in the water. He is the hero of a romance novel, so of course he jumps in the ocean to save her! Daniela was knocked on the head by her nefarious cousins and dumped in the ocean near Logan. They are hoping she can provide Logan clues as to where the treasure is located and then swoop in and take it once Logan does all the hard work.

Logan never trusts anyone and he can smell a lie a mile away. To say Daniela is lying would be an understatement. The thing is, she is genuinely afraid of something so Logan's protective instincts are in full swing. I love a protective hero and I think readers will genuinely enjoy Logan's overprotective side when it comes to Daniella. He can be a little heavy handed, but Daniella is no wilting wall flower and can stand her ground.

Cherry Adair's books are guilty pleasures for me. They really are over the top in lots of different ways. There is always a lot of action, usually resulting in explosions of some kind or gun fights, etc. The male heroes are larger than life, very protective and rich beyond belief. The women are in need of rescue. I am a sucker for this kind of a read! It is total escapism.

I have read all the books in the series so far and am enjoying them for what they are: fun, adventurous, sexy reads. If you want something deep and meaningful, this is not for you, lol!!

I personally believe Cherry can do romantic suspense like no one else, and Vortex is just another prime example of how great her work is! :) She can engage a reader from start to finish, and leave them wanting more. I am totally loving this series. I especially like how she brings characters from her TFLAC series in, making this really Cherry's world.

Like all the Cutter guys, I adore Logan. He is the backbone of Cutter Salvage, and although he can be stern and unwavering Dani gives him a softer side despite all her lies. Dani is on the run for her life. She is doing what she has to do in order to escape from a person who is not only evil, but has loads of power and is more than determined to find her at any cost. She escapes to Peru, but soon runs out of options and reaches out to her cousins. They are working on a scheme to rope Cutter into finding a lost treasure that her family has told stories about all her life. Because of her refusal to aid them, she is thrown overboard and rescued by none other than Logan. He knows everything she is saying is a lie, but he starts to unravel her lies one by one. Logan had no idea of the trouble his rescue of this mermaid would bring, but ultimately the trouble is well worth the effort when he finds himself falling for her.

From start to finish, Vortex is a non stop thrill to read with loads of excitement, steam, and even a fun dog thrown in the mix. :)

Synopsis
Logan Cutter has no stomach for liars so when he pulls a mysterious woman from the water and realizes that her story is as fishy as the sea, it goes against everything he believes to offer his assistance and protection. Daniela Rosado is on the run from her powerful and sadistic ex but realizes that Logan may be her only chance at survival. Together these two unlikely lovers must face an enemy that could destroy them both.

Review
Almost gave up on the series after the travesty of Riptide but this installment redeems it. From the exciting opening to the nerve wracking conclusion and the sweet ending, Vortext is a page turner.

Dani and Logan have explosive chemistry and thankfully there are no trust issues or silly misunderstandings to mar their relationship. Logan is sexy, stubborn and steadfast. He despises liars and his "lie-dar" warns him that Dani is keeping secrets but he gives her the benefit of the doubt and the time she needs to trust him with the truth. Dani is strong-willed and resilient, and despite everything she has suffered is willing to work past her fears to love again.

The suspense plot is compelling and the villain the most vicious in the series. There are one or two storylines that remain unresolved but nothing too major.

On a final note, it looks like Jonah will be getting his book next (I was worried that he wouldn't) and I look forward to reading it.

I almost gave up on this series. The first two books had serious flaws, but I fell in love with the Cutter Brothers. I am so glad I stayed with it. Vortex is a wonderful romantic-suspense, equal parts romance and suspense. The ending had definite edge-of-your-seat moments and the ending was poetic justice.

Daniela Rosada is tossed overboard in the middle of the Pacific Ocean somewhere off the coast of Lima, Peru. Dog spots her and Logan Cutter fishes her out. She knows who tossed her, but she lies to Logan telling him her name is Annie Ross and for quite awhile you don't know exactly what her motives are. I really loved how her past was slowly revealed through the story and the suspense ramps up. Logan has a thing about liars - he hates them and cuts them from his life. But, she is the reason he has finally found the treasury ship he has been looking for. Finding out Dani's story could spell the end of their budding sexual relationship, NOT! It seems that Dani trusted the wrong people and is in extreme danger and Logan has to get to the bottom of it and protect her, with a little help from T-FLAC, of course.

The writing was great, the story was tight, and the action was addictive. I struggle with rating this a 4 because it truly ranged between 3 and 5. I liked both the main characters and the details and depth put to the story were excellent. I couldn't put the book down once I started. However, there are a few details that bother me.

First, Logan is a world class swimmer and dive expert yet when he tries to rescue a drowning woman he does it with her facing him. Anyone who has taking swimmer safety courses knows that you rescue a drowning person from behind because they fight for their life out of instinct.

Second, the guys sent in to protect Dani are supposed to be trained protectors and they don't protect the boat from the way it was breached first (underwater). That should have been the first thing they did. They came across as completely incompetent.

Third, Dani had an unreasonable fear that she miraculously overcame in an instant. True fear as she experienced in the first half of the book couldn't be fixed in a few days. Then when she went scuba diving it was so sudden that I couldn't see anyone with true fear of water in their face doing.

This is the third book in the Cutter Cay series. I absolutely adored the first two books (and brothers) in the series and could not wait for this book to come out. However, I had a very hard time getting through this one. It just did not hold my interest. I wasn't emotionally invested in either the hero or heroine and frankly didn't care about what happened to them. I had to force myself to finish this one. I would have loved to see the other brothers play a supporting role in this book however we only get a glimpse of them at the end. I would not recommend this book to anyone who hasn't read the first two books in the series. If you've read the other two and want to read about the oldest Cutter brother, please borrow and not buy this one. Cherry Adair is releasing another Cutter Cay book about the new brother in 2013and I will read that one in the hopes that Cherry has recaptured the magic of the first two.

This was my favorite, for weird reasons.

1. Once the story got going, it was really good. Lots of action/romance.
2. Pages were heavy & soft. book folded open & you couldn't see the individual fibers on paper.
3. Print was different than the other 2 books. A tiny bit bigger & more geogian instead of times new roman.
4. I liked Logan the best!

What I didn't like???

GOOD GOD! Can these men find someone not damaged in some way... geez! And then, all of a sudden out of the blue just by looking at one of these brothers, they're fixed & having sex. INSTANTLY! wow!

This is another great action packed book by Cherry Adair. The Cutter Cay series conitinues on the high seas.
Daniela R has no luck at all thrown over board by family, and being chased by her ex who won't take no for an answer.
But the one good thing is shes saved by the eldest of the Cay clan. Who is not sure who or what Daniela wants. He only knows he wants her and sunken treasure that she might me the key to.
This is a must read.

My favorite Cherry Adair story yet. Wish we could have heard a little more from his family. Especially the new brother. But the story itself was excellent. No slow parts. Just enough playing hard to get. Just enough suspense. Just enough sex. Recommended.

Another good book in the Cutter Cay series! I gave the other two books 4 stars as well but I think I liked this one a teensy bit more than the last one (the first one was my favorite).

While I enjoyed the previous book, my issue was that most of it took place on dry land instead of on a boat, and there was only one dive scene. I had expected it to take place in or on or around water and boats like the first book. Vortex took place almost completely on Logan's boat, the Sea Wolf, except in the very end when he had to find Daniela after she was kidnapped right off of his boat.

There was only one dive scene. I wish there had of been more. The first book had 3 or 4 dive scenes and Ms. Adair did such a great job with detail and description that I could see myself under the water. The dive scene in this book was the same but I was disappointed that it wasn't longer or that there wasn't more dive scenes.

Aside from that, I really enjoyed the suspense. Daniela had good reason to feign temporary amnesia in the beginning but I was glad when she started to tell the truth. And I really liked that when Logan discovered who she was on his own, he didn't get angry at her and assume the worst. He could tell she was hiding things out of fear, was patient and let her tell him in her own time.

Like the last two books, there were multiple villains but one was always worse than the other. She created a doosey this time! The big villain is really creepy, so if you don't enjoy creepy, sick and twisted bad guys, then this book is not for you!

This is book 3 and we still keep hearing about the red head on the Sea Witch, who follows and poaches the Cutter's treasure. I'm hoping that Ms. Adair does more with this character in the next two books. I'm intrigued and want to know more about her.

One last complaint, same complaint from the other books. The characters have a lot of sex (which is not the complaint) but they never ever talk about protection! No one in the Cutter world is worried about STDs or getting pregnant. I don't expect those convos in historical romance but I do in contemporary romance. These are the only contemporaries I've ever read where neither hero nor heroine talks about it. And it's clear he's not pulling out before finishing. It bugs me that so much unsafe sex is happening.

Other than those few things, this was a great book! Much less foul language than the last two, which I liked. But the villain is really villainous so I guess that makes up for it.

Great heroine. Great hero. Wonderful secondary characters. Overall, great read.

(One more thing, the guy on the cover doesn't look anything like the other two guys on the other covers and they're supposed to look really similar. He looks like a totally different race than the other two. And Logan is supposed to be oldest and the model looks like he's barely old enough to drink, let alone be the CEO of an entire company and run his own ship. Plus he's missing the piercing blue eyes. I hate it when the cover models don't match the descriptions.)

Brother #3 - oldest - Logan Cutter: the administrative coordinator of Cutter Salvage; every year for 5 he's brought in the biggest treasure; very Spock-like and controlled - doesn't want to be like father. off of the coast of Peru, and disappointed that the galleon they located didn't have any treasure...

Dog: salt-and-pepper wolf/ Alsatian mix (wolf looking); ship's dog; 'adopts' Daniela; she keeps trying to find another name that he'd like (quite a litany throughout the story)... he responds to Bouy.

Daniela Rosado aka Annie Ross: on the run for a sadistic, domineering Senator; she is privy to his sexual perversion (almost drowning partners while having sex - he made her once, and then made her watch him with other women) and she found out he was using her gallery to import illegal drugs; DEA looking into it, she's trying to stay alive until charges can be made; She's been on the run for a month, and in desperation went to Peru, to cousins she had never met before; but those cousins are a bit shady themselves... they have a map of where the treasure Logan is looking for is - in the form of an emerald bowl that was etched... they had sold it to Logan, but he had not made th connection - so they wanted her to pretend to drown, let them rescue her, and then she could help him see it... she said no... they kanucked her on the head, put a life vest on her, and sent her towards Logan's ship... she almost drifted past, but Dog saw her and put up the alarm...

Victor Stamps: Senator with aspirations for the presidency; corrupted by power, and he thought he had subdued Danielle - especially after he branded her buttocks; when she found out about the drugs and ran, he made announcement about his fiancé missing... and he's had guys after her...

Logan hates liars - and he knows she's lying... but he also knows she's scared...
When she sees the emerald bowl on his desk - she suggests that the carvings of the boats tell which ships the bowl is about... and the lines and dots carved inside are a map showing where the ship with the treasure went down...

He goes to explore - and they find the treasure - relocating their ship. After a few days, she can't lie to him any more, and tells him about her family connection to the bowl, and how her cousins used her... she warns him to be cautious, that her cousins are thieves and will try and pirate it away from him once he brings it up... She doesn't tell him about the Senator until all on the ship almost die of carbon dioxide that had been fed in to the rooms via the ventilation system... he gets lots of security... they still manage to kidnap her... they strike back... all is well...

Ends with first brother's wedding back on the island.

Love the Cutter Cay series, but this book is my least favorite. I don't know that much about salvage ships but these Cutter brothers seem to have their own personal cruise ships with a private staff. Their crews are living in the lap of luxury during their downtime. Realistic? I don't know, but it's okay because the series is pure fantasy! Action/adventure! Romance on the high seas in beautiful, exotic locations! Gorgeous men and women! An escape from reality. This book had all that but still, everything about the situation surrounding Dani seemed so much less believable than the other books in this series. I liked the main characters. I liked the treasure hunting in this book. Didn't believe the whole reason Dani had to run and the way she ended up on the ship. Disappointed in Nick's friends. Just couldn't really believe the storyline with the senator. Ive already read the next two books and loved them! I'd read this one as part of the series. Just don't start with this one.

Yeah. Okay, so...How do I put this? When I read this book the first time years ago, I thought it was awesome. I would have rated it five stars easily. Now...now, I know what's truly out there because the big publishers aren't gatekeeping anymore. These smaller publishers and indie publishers are getting out there because of the direction of technology and reading. So now, I don't have to put up with mediocre anymore. That's about what this is: okay, mediocre, a sort good read, but your time is worth reading something else. There are moments. The end is definitely the shining beacon in this book. The romance is iffy, and the romantic suspense is a bit boring until it gets to the end.

Anyhow, it took me forever to finish this thing, and I'm glad I'm done. I love the idea of the book, but the execution just isn't there.

Daniela Rosado gets pulled out of the sea and onto the Sea Wolf. Even with the gash on her head Logan Cutter knows she’s lying. Logan hates liars but is intrigued. Dani goes for a day or so when she can’t stand herself and the truth comes spilling out of her mouth. Logan has been searching the wrong coordinates for the treasure he seeks. She knows where the ship is and why it was carrying the treasure.

As they head to the new coordinates, find the ship and treasure all heck breaks loose. Not only are Dani’s dirt bag relatives aiming for the treasure but her not so past past in the form of a US Senator is after her. Nick calls in T-FLAC for Logan and soon there are more guards than divers on board.

We end with Zane and Teal’s wedding. Logan meets brother Jonah.

Cherry Adair’s Vortex is a seductive, high octane journey through the depths of passion and peril. Set against the glittering danger of deep sea treasure hunting, Adair delivers a story that glistens with suspense, sensuality, and emotional charge.

Logan Cutter is a hero torn between suspicion and desire, while Daniela Rosada is a mystery wrapped in courage and heartbreak. Their bond tested by secrets, storms, and survival feels as unpredictable as the sea itself. Adair writes with cinematic precision, painting every scene with heat and momentum.

Equal parts danger and devotion, Vortex reminds us that in love, as in the ocean, surrender is the ultimate risk and the greatest reward.

Another steamy romantic adventure

This book is very timely about women and violence and how far bullies will go to lie and steal and even kill to get what they want. In this case, it's the presidency, sound familiar? This one is a roller coaster of excitement from the first page, just like I want. Nothing boring here. I read it in a day.

Cherry Adair books are fun, fast and steamy. Logan & Dani’s book is no exception. I absolutely loved it! And I loved that though Logan had a thing for “truth” he could see the other side and we didn’t have to deal with unnecessary man-drama. I SO loved everything about book. If you want a fast, fun escape, this is your perfect hit.
