Brynn Allen has always been ambitious. If there’s something she wants, she goes after it. That attitude has driven her to build a successful career. As more and more people begin to notice her when she’s out, Brynn believes it’s time to be proactive in another aspect of her life.
Her safety.
Jake Burns was taken with Brynn the moment she walked through the door. The woman’s beautiful figure is beyond impressive, but it’s her determination to keep herself protected that he’s most attracted to. He’s never met anyone as driven and focused as her.
When a creepy stalker comes after her, Brynn is going to need to rely on everything Jake has taught her to stay safe.
Because she wants a future with him, and she has every intention of staying alive to make that happen, too.
A.K. Evans is a contemporary romance author of over twenty published novels. While she enjoys writing a good romantic suspense novel, Andrea’s favorite books to write have been her extreme sports romances. That might have something to do with the fact that she, along with her husband and two sons, can’t get enough of extreme sports.
Before becoming a writer, Andrea did a brief stint in the insurance and financial services industry and managed her husband’s performance automotive business. That love of extreme sports? She used to drive race cars!
When Andrea isn’t writing, she can be found homeschooling her two sons, doing yoga, snowboarding, reading, or traveling with her family. She and her husband are currently taking road trips throughout the country to visit all 50 states with their boys.
Brynn and Jake are a perfect match. Strong, a tad stubborn, and utterly incapable of seeing the other in pain. Sure, some hard truths need to be voiced, but they come from a place of love and caring, so they’re actually sort of perfect for this tale of love and forgiveness. And then the best part…the saving of the day. The proper tools have been given. The training is there. And so is the determination to survive.
Even better, there’s no extra drama. There’s the shock of the danger waiting in the wings, but it doesn’t take center stage until absolutely necessary, which helps Brynn and Jake grow their love without worrying that they may be wrong for each other. And then that epilogue? They heal so much with one small thing that this leaves a taste as sweet as pie when you’re done.
Every single book in this series is sheer perfection. I’m amazed at how the author managed to write such a spectacular series. I thoroughly enjoyed each book and look forward to book 13.
Intention is Book 12 in the Harper Security Ops series by A.K. Evans, featuring a steamy romantic suspense story for Jake and Brynn. Brynn is an online fitness guru gaining in popularity faster than she expected. Being recognized in public makes her uncomfortable, so she turns to HSO for personal self defense training. She is assigned to Jake, who she meets after watching him spar. He’s clearly powerful, attractive, and a bit mysterious. They both feel a connection right away and spend together building that bond while sharpening Brynn’s self-defense skills, until a creepy stalker sets his sights on Brynn. Jake’s tragic past kicks him into high gear as he’s determined to keep her safe, but he needs to remember that he taught Brynn to be able to take care of herself.
I’ve been curious about Jake for awhile, and Brynn was the perfect woman to soothe the pain in his soul! Obviously, I’m a fan of this series, but the character development for these two was really special. I love the way they connected and the way Jake was able to open up to her about the broken parts of him. Then Brynn was this strong woman on the outside, with some insecurities and vulnerability on the inside. Jake was able to help boost her confidence, and they were just able to complement each other in the best ways. They had spicy chemistry in spades, if that’s what you love! You won’t be disappointed with these two!🔥🔥 When the suspense ramped up, it was intriguing, and brought about some surprises, action, and some cooperation from the HSO family that I always love to see. I appreciated that the suspense plot didn’t overshadow the emotional storyline involving Jake’s past and his family. This was a really great story with many layers, as well as an epilogue to top it off with some sweetness! I can’t wait to see which HSO man falls next!!
I received an ARC for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶🌶🌶
Intention (Harper Security Ops Book 12) by A. K. Evans is about an online training fitness instructor, Brynn, and Harper Security defense class instructor, Jake. Because Brynn has 460,000 followers online, she became more recognizable, and a questionable incident caused Brynn to feel afraid since she didn’t know any self-defense. Brynn met Jake when she sought out a self-defense instructor at Harper Security who taught her how to protect herself. Jake lost his younger brother in an accident that involved the logs they were both stacking up for winter which almost destroyed him. The story is about things that were not intended to happen such as Jake’s brother’s accident or never intending to fall in love. Brynn discovers she has a stalker that puts Jake’s protectiveness on high alert. There is passion, intrigue, and a mystery to solve. Brynn helps Jake reevaluate his life as he does everything in his power to keep her safe. With twists and turns that astonish the reader at the end. The book Intention is Harper Security Ops book 12 is a standalone interlocking series about the men who work for Harper Security and how each find his lady love. A. K. Evans never ceases to amaze me with the variety of stories and books she writes that are all unique and full of romance each with their own HEA. A. K. Evan’s book Intention is an audiobook narrated by Maxine Mitchell's husky voice and Stephen Dexter whose sexy voice ratches up the sexiness of listening pleasure. The story was read in such a way one could imagine being a part of the book.
In Intention, we are focused on Jake and Brynn. He’s part of the Harper Ops team and she’s a beautiful up and comer in the social media/fitness world looking to learn how to take care of her own safety.
I liked Jake and Brynn instantly and the same went for them. They were lust/love at first sight, however, did take some time to get to know one another. Jake carries some heavy baggage from his past that has made him the sullen, closed off man that Brynn first meets. She sees the sadness in his eyes right away which only made her want to get to know him more. Brynn is a semi-celebrity and when looking at Harper Ops for self defense classes, found herself the perfect teacher in Jake. Spending time together in proximity can only lead to one thing and it was going to be interesting to see how these type A personalities were going to make it work.
The book is well written and along with Jake and Brynn all the Harper Ops men and significant others are present and accounted for. I’m not a fan of insta-love, however A.K. Evans made it work well enough. Not a lot of angst in this read, the little there was came from a quickly resolved stalker situation that felt like a perfect distraction every once in a while. Intention reads well as a standalone and has a small epilogue to peek in and see what’s been going on.
I love these Harper Security men. They really don't need to go far to find the women of their dreams. They keep just walking through those office doors. These ladies trigger some over protective switch in their brains and they are all in to look after these women in need.
Intention is the turn of Brynn to seek the assistance of the Security guys. She is a fitness influencer who is building an online following and has attracted the attentions of a potential stalker. Jake is the self defence instructor giving her lessons to learn how to defend herself in case of interactions with fans that go awry. This is attraction at first sight for both of them. However, he has a broken heart that is mourning the loss of his brother and she is too busy to date.
I loved the evolution of their relationship and I'm not ashamed to admit that Jake's storyline and his misplaced guilt had me crying more than once. I loved that Brynn was able to lead Jake in the right direction to heal. And I also loved that she was able to save herself. Jake gave her the knowledge and strength to be able to get herself out of her dodgy situation. These two were supporters of each other and made each other stronger.
A gripping and adorable protector romance between a strong female lead and the man who wants to look out for her.
As an up-and-coming personal trainer/ social media influencer, Brynn is starting to receive some rather unwelcome attention, but she's determined to take care of herself! Going to Harper Security Ops for self-defense training was her greatest decision yet, and her hot new trainer is only part of the reason! Brynn doesn't want to sacrifice her independence for fame, and Jake can teach her how to take her safety to the next level.
As a self-defense instructor, Jake sees beautiful women all the time; none of them have ever affected him like Brynn does. She's gorgeous, smart, and very no nonsense just like him, and in light of recent events, she's committed to safety. When she acquires a creepy stalker, Jake must face facts that this woman is more than a client!
Great story. I liked how easy the relationship seemed, and thankfully, Evans doesn't care for the third act break-up anymore than we do! I also appreciated how the two helped each other to become better. Brynn helped Jake face some hard things and helped heal a family; it was beautiful!
Brynn is the complete opposite of me. I'm very much like her bestie Maxie - I hate exercise of all forms! However, Brynn cannot sit still and is always moving. She takes good care of her body and it shows in the huge following her online fitness business has. But when she gets a fright one night she realises she needs to learn to take care of herself defensively.
Jake is the perfect partner for her. Strong, independent, stubborn and perfectly honed. He's a protector to the core and comes with a bit of a tragic past that he just can't get over. When they start working together they soon realise that they have a true connection and intense chemistry.
They not only grow to love one another but they challenge the other too. Emotionally and physically. Brynn gets Jake to take hold of his grief and stop allowing it to shape his future and cut off his family. Jake may be super-protective but he is well aware of Brynn's capabilities. He's given her the tools to defend herself and boy does she!
There is no 3rd act break up and the story is told from a dual POV. Even better - double epilogue!
Once again, this author delivers another suspense filled romance audiobook. We are back with the dynamic members of Harper Security Ops and this time the story belongs to Jake Burns, the self defense expert whom we have met in previous stories. Brynn Allen is an ambitious personal trainer/social influencer . As independent as she is, when a stalker makes their appearance, Brynn reaches out to Harper Security Ops for help and it’s Jake who becomes her bodyguard. The attraction is immediate but Jake’s past is difficult to allow him to open his heart. As the danger intensifies so do the feelings taking the listeners to lots of ups and downs of emotions . Will these two be able to overcome the evil and in the end , find their HEA? The plot was engaging and the characters perfect because of their imperfections. The story was also a reminder that the experiences we have during our childhood and youth, will affect the adults we become. The narrators Maxine Mitchell and Stephen Dexter did a great job with the voices. I was entrusted a copy of this audiobook. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
This is the twelve book in this amazing series by this author, each book follows a different set of characters. This series can be read as a stand-alone read but once you've read one you'll want to read more. This is the story of Brynn and Jake, these two are a perfect match for each other and have very hot and intense chemistry between them. This is one very steamy and suspenseful read from this author. This story is also heartbreaking and has some sweet moments, funny parts, and some unexpected twists and turns. This story grips you from the first chapter to the very last one. This is a fantastic addition to this series and these books just keep getting better and better.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book, and this is my honest review.
Intention by A K Evans pub review date 12/12/23 5 stars Brynn & Jake
She was in constant movement. She worked out, hiked, did yoga, and was an online trainer. As she progressed her anonymity started to be a thing of the past. The more she was recognized the more she was concerned. An incident with “fans” made her decide to get self-defense training. She had investigated for a friend and decided to go to the same place her best friend had gone. It had nothing to do with the wonderful man her friend found as well as protection.
Jake was immediately taken by her. She was a client and other reasons. As they worked together could he fight the attraction. Especially when he wasn't alone in his feelings. However, her concerns didn't go away. Who was in more danger, Brynn or Jake/?
The two are so good together. Jake has a tragic history. Can their relationship make it easier to deal with the pain?
Heat, great characters, a touching steamy relationship, danger, and so much more will keep you reading and turning pages. Another wonderful addition to the series.

This book takes us back to Steel Ridge and the men of Harper Security Ops. One by one Jake has seen all coworkers find love and pair off. He's happy for them but he just can't seem to believe that he deserves the same type of happiness after a devastating event from his childhood. Brynn sees the happiness her best friend has but has been very career focused and doesn't have time for relationships. That doesn't mean she doesn't want what her friend has. As her career begins to garner some unwanted attention she decides its time to check out what Harper Security Ops has to offer. Jake are Brynn instantly drawn to each other and once they decide to give in, they realize they just might be perfect for each other. Brynn helps Jake deal with his past demons and that allows him to see that he is allowed to feel happy and love. What keeps Harper Security Ops in business is the reason Brynn needs them and now she needs Jake more than ever when someone starts targeting her and the ones she loved. Another fantastic book by AK Evans!
Brynn is a focused woman who reaches the goals she sets for herself, and she's built herself a successful career. However, with the career she's built, she needs to start thinking about safety for herself, and that leads her to getting some self defense lessons at Harper Security Ops. Jake has a past that does a number on him with all the guilt, and it's kept him from really living his life completely, including having any sort of relationship with the opposite sex. Of course that all changes the moment he comes face to face with Brynn, as he's very much drawn to her while he teaches her self defense. The sparks are flying between them, and even better, she's becoming a support system for him to help him deal with his past as well. They're going along quite well when danger literally starts stalking Brynn, so now it's a race against time to figure out who is after her which has the twists coming in how to make me so very happy. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this series so much as every story is perfect in my eyes with Intention being no exception! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
The opening of Intention got me right in the chest and A.K. Evans kept my emotions on high alert all the way through this one.
There was something about Brynn that I really connected with. Her love of movement and the outdoors. Her willingness to try new things and determination to challenge herself. It's exactly how she found herself at the doors of Harper Security Ops and in the path of Jake, her new instructor.
There was no denying the spark between these two. But Jake didn't want to welcome anyone into the lifetime of hurt he was carrying around. Too bad for him because Brynn went for what she wanted and she wanted a chance. It didn't take long for their lust to become so much more. If only everyone was happy about them being together...
While the suspense/mystery was mild throughout the entire book (I wanted more of it if I'm being completely honest), at the end it took a dark and twisted turn that had me holding my breath. But that ending...be still my swooning heart. It was heartfelt and a wonderful full circle moment that left me more than satisfied.
Another suspense-filled, gripping and addictive book by Ms. Evans. Once again, we are given a storyline that is well written and will have your full attention from the start and will keep it up until the last word. Intention is book 12 in the Harper Securit Ops and finds one of the last single men left, Jake, meeting Brynn, who is looking for self-defence classes after an awkward situation in a parking lot. Brynn is a confident, strong and driven online fitness trainer and her first meeting with Jake had her feeling butterflies in her stomach. There was something about him that attracted her to him. Jake, being one of the few men who teaches self-defence, had an instant attraction to Brynn. Both of them seem to bring out the best in one another. His past is one that haunts him and she seems to be able to bring calmness to his life. When a stalker starts to leave items for Brynn, Jake becomes the alpha male that he is and does everything he can to keep her safe, but is it enough? This is one book that I would suggest adding to your TBR list as well as the rest of the series.
Brynn is an active, independent fitness coach and gaining social media followers at a rapid pace. Being recognized often in public now and having some uncomfortable interactions with fans has left her feeling the need for self-defense knowledge. When she turns to Harper Security Ops for self-defense training, she meets Jake. Jake...oh my heart breaks for this man. The guilt he's carrying from a tragic accident is almost more than he can bare. He's kept himself away from family, relationships, or getting close to anyone. Brynn is a strong, determined woman and that is exactly what Jake needs to help him overcome to guilt and pain of the past. The physical chemistry between these two is amazing, but the deep emotional connection was the best! I don't want to spoil any parts of this book, but I will say this is one of my favorite stories from HSO, yet! I listened to this on audio and as always, the narrators were phenomenal. Their emotion fit the story perfectly and really took the story to another level.
I don’t think I’ve ever been through so many emotions since Sawyer’s story!!
Jake is one of the many men at Harper Security Ops working in the self defense department. Brynn is an active online personal trainer. After getting recognized in public, Brynn wants to get proactive and start taking self defense classes where her personal trainer is Jake
I absolutely adored them both in this book! I loved they are both patient and forward with what he wanted from each other. What starts out as discussing Brynn wanting a dog to practice cuddling …leads to so much more 🙃 They start dating not long after and a few random notes lead to Brynn having a stalker and her getting kidnapped. As always, the HSO men come to the rescue but not before Brynn uses her kickass self defense skills to get away.
What I also loved about this book is how fierce Brynn is and how she helped heal Jake from what happened to his brother.
The epilogue had me in tears from Jake getting Brynn a dog to having their son and naming them after Jake’s brother 🥹😭

Intention by A.K. Evans is the 12th story in the Harper Security series. By now, a reader should know that each couple (book) can technically stand alone, but reading the series enhances the experience. This one features Jake and Brynn. This story has had the least amount of suspense for the series, yet I still loved how this story was written.
Brynn is a fitness influencer who decides she needs self-defense classes because she is getting recognized in public. Jake is the instructor assigned to her private lessons. It isn't long before feelings get involved, both on the romantic level, but also as a source of trust and healing for Jake.
And as any good A.K. Evans book our heroine gets caught up in some crazy stuff. Read it to find out yourself!!
This is a sweet read. This is the first book in the series where I could picture it without the suspense and it would have been just as good. Loved the couple. 4 stars.
Audible review: Brynn and Jake couldn't have been more perfect for each other! Their relationship was truly swoon worthy. He may have saved her when her life was in danger but, for all intents and purposes, she really saved him. Brynn was a bada$$ "angel" FMC that healed all the broken parts of Jake. Jake was the badda$$ "big guy" on the outside, but a broken man on the inside that never healed from losing his brother and ultimately his family when he was younger. Brynn found herself at Harper Security Ops when her online presence started to se her being recognized in public and she needed to be able to protect herself. Jake ended up being her trainer and their attraction was instantaneous. They fall hard and fast for each other, although I would argue he fell first. I really enjoyed getting a glimpse of all the other Harper Security Ops couples in this installment as well. Another fantastic book from AK Evans!
I loved this story! From the second I started reading I was hooked and couldn't put it down. Intention was a twist on a protector-for-hire storyline. Brynn is such a strong character and doesn't hire a bodyguard but decides she wants to learn self-defense skills since she has been getting recognized in public and had an uncomfortable encounter. This leads her to Harper Security where she meets Jake. From the moment the two meet you can feel the connection and chemistry. I loved how Brynn is not a damsel in distress but someone that knows what she wants and goes after it. The writing was fabulous and the drama and suspense had me dying to know how things were going to work out. I absolutely loved the characters and watching Brynn and Jake build their relationship was my favorite part. This is a must-read book for sure!- By Alisa
This is the 12th book in this phenomenal series, and this is Jake and Brynn’s journey. Brynn is driven and focuses, and she goes after what she wants, and her ambition has built her a successful career. When Brynn needs to step up and protect herself, she goes to Harper Security, where she meets Jake, and there is an instant attraction between them. Jake is haunted by a tragic past, and Brynn brings a calmness into his life. When Brynn is the target of a stalker, she needs to use the skills Jake taught her to protect herself. This is a well written story which is an action packed, emotional roller coaster, with undeniable chemistry, romance, suspense, danger, intrigue, and love, which leads to an entertaining and steamy addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
Brynn has taken her love of health and fitness and created quite the following which is good for her business but not for her security. She decides to get self defense training, so she approaches Harper Security, and it isn’t long before she develops feelings for Jake, her instructor.
Jake is a perfect match for Brynn as they both lead active lifestyles, and he is taken in by her vibrant personality. The sparks fly between them but when she attracts the attention of the wrong person there isn’t anything he won’t do to keep her safe.
Brynn doesn’t need a protector, but Jake is determined to be that person for him while she helps him make peace with his tragic past. I enjoyed seeing the relationship between them develop as well as spending some time with the other characters in this series.
This was, by far, my favorite Harper Security Ops book. I loved that Brynn was a tough woman and didn't need a man to protect her, just to teach her how to protect herself. Jake needed a tough woman to help heal him.
Just a couple of things that bothered me. She had over 460,000 followers on social media and a stalker. Why didn't anyone think to go through her messages and comments to figure out who it was? Or at least narrow it down... Was Justin one of the men that approached her at the store?
What happened to the couples workouts that Brynn was planning on doing with jake for her business? It was mentioned and never brought up again.
All in all, I really enjoyed the story. Once all books in the series are released, I will have to go back and do a re-read because I don't remember half of the characters and their stories....

Tithe: Intention Author: A. K. Evans Format: ebook Genre: Romantic Suspense, military Standalone: yes Part of a Series: Book 12 of Harper Security Ops POV: Jake, Brynn Steam Level: slow burn to steamy 5/5
Intention is the 12th book in the Harper Security Ops series Each book is a standalone but prevents characters-especially the guys who work at Harper Security are secondary often helping with the mission/rescue/security. We’ve met Brynn as well in a previous book as she’s the best friend of another character. Jake and Brynn’s story is heartbreaking, sweet and funny at times. I loved that the climax was so unexpected and twisted. Intention is a great addition to this series.
I received an advanced copy of this book for free. This is my honest and voluntary review.
Maxine Mitchell and Stephen Dexter are our narrators for this one! Maxine is an incredible narrator and does a great job as Brynn! Stephen Dexter, I have not heard a lot from him but love him as Jake!!
We are back in Steel Ridge with the guys of Harper Security Ops. Brynn finds that she has gotten some unwanted attention and turns to HSO for assistance and runs into Jake. They are both instantly attracted and drawn to one another but will Jakes past keep him from giving in and finding the happiness his coworkers have? Giving into the attraction, both Brynn and Jake find that they are perfect for one another but will the hidden danger that brought Brynn to him keep them from going the distance?
Another incredible story by AK Evans and the guys in Steel Ridge!!!
Intention has you captivated by the storyline and the characters from the very first chapter. Jake and Brynn fit perfectly together and the chemistry and connection between these two radiates off the pages. The sadness that hides behind Jake's eyes breaks your heart and has Brynn wanting to mend the broken pieces for him. Their is suspense, drama and a little chaos that draws you in and has you holding your breath. The passion and love that builds between these two characters is beautiful and there a many heartwarming moments that bring you nothing but joy. Another fantastic addition to this series.
I loed this story. Yes, it had all the hallmarks of a Harper Security book. Kick a$$ herine (literally), strong silent hero. But there was a bit of a differnece in this one. Brynn and Jake’s story wasn’t all about her stalker or the trouble she was in. This was about the healing of Jake’s heart and the journey Brynn and Jake took on their way to the HEA. I cried. Seriously, legit cried. I ean, yeah, Brynn had her stalker issue and it was resolved QUITE satisfactorily! I don’t want to give away too many spoilers just suffice to say this is a stellar addition to the Harper Security family!
Oh my heart! This couple was made for each other in every way! In this twelfth installment of Harper Security Ops, Brynn Allen is seeking self defense lessons. Jake Burns is her teacher at Harper Security. Being in close proximity during lessons, they don’t stand a chance at the chemistry building between them. Jake carries so much guilt from his childhood, and Brynn helps him to make that burden lighter. Brynn is high energy and has met a man that matches her lifestyles. 5/5 stars I received an ARC of Intention. I voluntarily read and reviewed it. All opinions are my own.

Intention means a wish, a desire and I wish and desire I could have kept on reading Jake and Brynn's instant attraction story, the suspense element was as good as ever the passion was as flawless as I could have wished but what made it 5 stars for me was Jakes tragic past that still haunts him but somehow one look from Brynn can calm the storm inside, I adored this independent woman so much and her soft side was just spot on add in some light moments include the cuddle experiment and once again AK Evans delivered.
