Rate this book
The next installment in the Basics series tackles baking in a lively, approachable manner. Hot on the heels of the successful Basic cooking, Basic baking shows a whole new generation of home cooks just how fun baking can be â€" and it's not as hard to do as one might think! The first part of Basic baking covers fundamental techniques and ingredients that are staples in the Basic kitchen. All the ingredients are easy to find and the techniques are easy to master â€" cornerstones of the Basic approach to cooking. The remaining chapters are divided into categories, each drawing upon the knowledge learned previously. Inside you'll find recipes for cakes, pies, tarts, cookies, bars, strudels and muffins, as well as savory snacks like crackers, meat pies, crusty breads and pizza. Every recipe features a companion photo, and the book is loaded with photos of people enjoying their time baking in the kitchen. Once you see the lively graphics and feel the easy, down-to-earth "Basic" tone, you'll want to join the party!

Absolutely love this book.
It taught me so much about baking while at the same time keeping a simple language. There are many great recipes in it and I even leafed through the pages when I didn't plan to bake something that day.

It's a really basic approach to baking, explaining everything you need to know ... I don't know much more to say, it's just a really nice baking book for beginners ... I have many fond memories of it and the baked goods I produced with this ... I actually think that I didn't fail at any recipe I tried out of it .. so yeah, I really recommend this one for any beginner or young person who wants to give baking a try on their own.
