A very fast paced, and edge of your seat book. The author has done an astonishing job in keeping the reader spellbound and wanting more. It was an enjoyable read and quite mesmerizing from start to finish. Don’t hesitate in purchasing this one.

Opet malo prošlosti malo sadašnjosti, sve skupa uz zanimljive likove, akcije i utrku s vremenom..
Krenula s trećim i završnim dijelom, Čuvari knjižnice, a onda ide neki "sveobuhvatni" osvrt.

Nonostante i promettenti primi capitoli...

Glenn Cooper doesn't write great literature, but this one was as unputdownable for me as Library of the Dead, to which this is a sequel. It brings Nostradamus, Calvin and Shakespeare into the story of the death lists, Will Piper is as endearing a hero as he was in the first book, the solving of the clues is excellent, and there's an excellent breakneck speed conclusion. Load of tosh really, but I loved it.

Bit of a disappointment to be honest. Once again, Glen Cooper has done his research and the tying in of Calvin, Shakespeare, Henry VII and Nostradamus within the story was quite impressive. The problem, I think, is that the author got carried away with the history. There's this whole middle section of the novel that is set in the 16th Century that just goes on and on. I was ready to open a vein. For some, this might make the book but, for me, it just raised the whole Dan Brown issue again. Dodgy ...more

I was reading this book to find out answers from the first one. I didn't know Will Piper would be the centre of the story again, I though he served well as an introduction to the world in the first one. He was a decent character with some flaws before but he was the reason for making me want to quit the sequel. A retired alchoholic cheating on his wife with a 30 years younger girl and putting his 1 year old son in danger, all because of a need for adventure. He was so repulsive, I don't know how ...more

This was an exciting book for me as I loved all the history and theology that is tied into the story. It's the 2nd book in the trilogy so I suggest that you read book 1 first. The characters are well-developed and the plot was very interesting with a twist in the end. The book was hard to put down and kept the pages flying until the very end and I think this book would make a great movie. I'm looking forward to reading the last book in the trilogy and I would recommend these books to those who l ...more

Neuverljiva radnja i površni, neizgrađeni likovi; jedna sasvim dobra ideja o srednjevekovnoj biblioteci koja sadrzi knjige datuma rođenja i smrti svih ljudi na svetu, nedovoljno razrađena i pokvarena akcionim delovima i delovanjima tajnih agenata, američke vlade.. Najbolji delovi su oni koji opisuju neke istorijske ličnosti - Šekspira, Žana Kalvina, Nostradamusa- i uticaj biblioteke na njihov život i rad. Sve u svemu, još jedna u moru tralala misterija.

PROTAGONIST: Will Piper, ex FBI agent
SETTING: US; England
SERIES: #2 of 2
RATING: 3.5

Now retired from the FBI, Will Piper’s life was redefined by what he uncovered at a super secret installation in Nevada called Area 51. He found an extraordinary library that held information about the birth and death dates of the entire world population from the 1300s until February 9, 2027. As it turns out, one volume of that library was missing, “1527”, and is put up for auction by an impoverished member of th

Recommends it for: chi vuole scoprire i misteri del passato racchiusi in una vecchia casa.

I will post my combined review of the two books (Secret of the Seventh Sonand Book Of Souls) here as one review, because the story really spans the two books. Very interesting and engaging. One question I kept asking myself, knowing someone's DOD, had someone ever tried to change it? For instance, could Will have "pulled the plug" on Mark even though he was BTH? Would Mark have continued living off of life support? That would change the view of the library and predestination. If you do not know ...more

An odd, but interesting novel that weaves together William Shakespeare, John Calvin, Nostradomus, Area 51 and a super secret government agency that protects and uses an 800 year old book which contains the birth and death dates of every person in the world past, present and future. I know it sounds absurd, but it is oddly compelling. I find with something this wildly ridiculous I'm unconcerned about links to reality. Ok, Shakespeare was the best friend of a young man whose family owned the book ...more

The title turned me off (sounded kind of sacreligious, but it's not) and it started out kind of slow but once it picked up, it was a page turner to the end.

Overall this is a conspiracy thriller. Former FBI agent, Will Piper, is given a top secret assignment to find a missing book, written in 1527. Another significant date throughout the book is February 9, 2027. The 1527 book suddenly appears at an auction house in London and the games begin. The U.S. govmt wants the book to remain classified.

All in all, a good and entertaining book :)
We meet up with Will Piper who has been forced to retirement after surviving the "Doomsday Killer" and stumbled upon a high-classified secret. Unwilling, he get dragged into the mess once again, discovering the shocking truth about the Library.
As said, its an entertaining book. My favorite part is when Will is in England trying to solve Shakespeares puzzle. Gave me a good Dan Brown feeling. Think, though, that the book could have ended better, or especi

Not quite as good as "Library of the Dead" but still captivating and well worth reading! I wonder if Glenn Cooper has any plans of writing a book that takes place in 2027. I would definitely be interested in reading that!

I've always loved puzzles and clues which added a lot to my enjoyment of this book, but even without that it was still a fascinating read - especially the flash-backs through time, which allowed us to learn more about the history of the book. Now I just want to know more! :)

I've got to tell you . . . for fiction, this novel and the first one are probably the most thought provoking novels I've read in quite a while. I don't want to give away the central basis and issue, but it will most definately spark much thought.

You need to read Secret of the Seventh Son first and then this novel. Both have great character development, action, suspense, history and thrill as the dilema unfolds. Can't wait for the next novel by Glenn Cooper.
