Inter-Act: Interpersonal Communication Concepts, Skills, and Contexts
Interpersonal Communication Concepts, Skills, and Contexts, 10/e , by best-selling authors Kathleen S. Verderber and Rudolph F. Verderber, provides a framework for practical communication skills supported by current theory and numerous real-life examples and scenarios.
Inter-Act , which explores the conceptual foundations of interpersonal relationships at home, at work, and in other social settings, is an ideal text for freshman and sophomore classes in interpersonal communication. Updated and revised throughout, the tenth edition incorporates the latest research and theoretical work in the communication field to help students develop specific skills needed to create and maintain healthy relationships--in their every day interactions with frinds and family as well as with people less familiar to them. Finally, it provides a thorough discussion of mediated forms of communication (use of cell phones, email, newsgroups, and online chat rooms).
Significant Additions to the Tenth Edition
· New material on a variety of topics, including updated coverage of supportive communication, speech communities, the five-step active learning process, influence theory, and mediated communication.
· Six Inter-Action Dialogues, interspersed throughout the book, demonstrate the ways in which skills taught in the text are used in real-life situations.
· A CD-ROM, packaged with each new copy of the text, provides video clips of four of the Inter-Action Dialogues.
· New "Diverse Voices" selections showcase different aspects of intercultural communication.
· Improved pedagogy includes a key terms list at the end of each chapter and streamlined activities throughout.

I read this for class instead of enjoying my life with sunrise on the reaping or red rising.

Required class textbook which, for me, seemed mostly unnecessary. It feels like a guidebook for corporate aliens who need to study how to interact with the human species, and learn their mysterious, complex ways and fit in.

I really loved this textbook. It is very easy to follow along with and most of the time you find parts of your relationships through the concepts the textbook covers. I found every chapter to be very relevant in improving one's communication. This is honestly one of the most interesting and compelling textbooks I have ever read. With all of the personal examples throughout the book, you will just find yourself laughing when you realize that exact thing has happened to you before!
