My Review:
I love Katie's little town of Bramble. Seriously, I laugh out loud constantly while reading these books and this one with Bubba's (aka: Billy) exploits had me rolling! (By the way, I am from West Texas and it should be noted that we really aren't this bad of hicks....I swear!)

This book features Shirlene. I'll admit, she hasn't been my favorite character of the series, but I bawled my eyes out when her husband died in book #2. In this book, we see a very different Shirlene than the ric

Sassy gold digging widow with a heart of gold? Check.
Four orphans camping out at said gold digging widow's old digs? Check.
Town full of good ol' folks who cain't seem to keep their mouth shut from gossiping about anyone and everyone even though it's probably not true? Check.

Catch Me a Cowboy is book three in the A Deep in the Heart of Texas series by Katie Lane, and I have to say it is my favorite so far. This one made me laugh, cry, and touched my heart in a way that you want from a good book. Like the other two the people in this book come alive. You feel like you know them.

Shirlene Dalton had it all until her much older husband died suddenly of a heart attack. Her world quickly is falling apart. She did so much retail ther

(review originally posted on blog in April) I finished Catch Me a Cowboy by Katie Lane the other day. It's the 3rd book in the series and definitely did not disappoint. I wasn't sure how I'd like it without the main characters from the 2 other books being more front and center, but Billy (Bubba) Wilkes and Shirlene Dalton were definitely great leads.

Not only did poor Shirlene lose her husband but due to some bad financial management, she loses her house as well. Now, part of me didn't feel sorr

Catch Me A Cowboy is the 3rd book in the Deep In The Heart of Texas series by Katie Lane. I honestly didn’t think I could enjoy a book in this series more than the last one, but I was wrong. I loved, loved, loved it!

Shirlene Dalton grew up rough. She escaped it all when she married a very wealthy, older man. Most people assume she married Lyle for money and many would be surprised to find out she loved him. Now, he’s died of a heart attack and she’s all alone and back to square one. She’s been s

Review from Backchatting Books

This is probably my favourite in this series because Shirlene is such a genuine and generous creature. Life seemed to be easy for her in the first two books as her wealthy husband indulged her every whim. At the end of the last novel, "Make Mine a Bad Boy", he passed away though and the company he worked for went bust. Shirlene is kicked out of her beautiful mansion and with no other options, moves into a tacky trailer on the wrong side of the tracks. Her redneck ne
This is book 3 in the Deep in the Heart of Texas Series. I've listened to all three books and recommend all of them. Listening to the books in order is preferable (so you can get to know the crazy people of Bramble, TX) but not necessary. This is a story about picking up the pieces of your life and starting over. It's about appreciating family and friends and realizing that truly the best things in life are free.

Although this story is very fun, there are parts that are very sad and I cried my e

Spoiler Ahead This was a book three in the "Deep in the Heart of Texas Series" Shirlene Dalton had it all she went from living in a trailer to living in the most outrageous mansion Bramble, Texas to back to the trailer when her husband dies unexpectedly. Shirlene was not one of my favorite character's in this series although I did feel bad when her husband died in book two. Bubba/Billy Wilke is new to this little town, but they have embraced him as one of their own. And when this town accept ...more

I'm really enjoying this series and all the crazy characters that live in the small Texas town where each book takes place. Each book stands alone but I recommend reading them in order as the characters show up book to book. This is book 3 about Shirlene Dalton who finds herself broke after the death of her wealthy older husband. She ends up living back in the rundown trailer where she grew up, which also is home to four runaway orphans who have been hiding out there. Next door lives a hot cowbo ...more

Catch Me a Cowboy is the 3rd book in Katie Lane’s Deep in the Heart of Texas series. IMHO this book is right up there with the first book in the series Cowboy Crazy as a great story. There’s a bit more drama than the first two books which were basically focused on the relationships between the main characters, twin sisters Hope and Faith and their future husbands Colt and Slate. Along with a romance between their BFF the recently widowed Shirleen and Bubba or Billy Cates it also involves Shirlee ...more
Not just DNF, but Could Not Finish. This is not just a light hearted, airy romance; this is the first cowboy romance I've read that was so damn silly and stupid it felt insulting. I made it to Chapter 13, about a 100 pages in, but between the chainsaw wielding "midget," Darlene being hog tied by some kids, and her drowning in the lake fishing with Bubba - I couldn't take any more. Not to mention, this town is full of dumb-dumbs like Gene who don't know the difference between a music record and a ...more

An interesting story about a widow and a cowboy who thinks she is a gold digger. How the cowboy got to know the widow and slowly fall in love with her. I love this story because when the cowboy know that he love the woman he propose her in front all the people in the town.

The town folks really a busy body always try to take everything in their hand. But its was a good town with a golden heart people.

Shirlene gets her day in the sun, but first there are some thunder storms. Shirlene unexpectedly loses her husband and can't seem to stand on her own two feet. From rags to riches back to rags, Shirlene is putting on a good front for the small town of Bramble who of course want to meddle with her life. Throw in the hot neighbor Bubba (who isn't what he seems) and four misfit kids, and you have a funny topsy-turvy story!
Loved this story with bubba and shirlene, the kids and pig and crazy town and people who live there. Also moses is a great character maybe only sane one outside of heroes and heroines of the series

If you like your escapist reading with a large dose of Texas twang, this is the series for you. It is very light-hearted fare, but tomorrow I won't be able to remember the plot.

I like my stories with a bit more substance; I'm glad I listened to it while traveling. It is the only way it would have kept my interest. Narrator Nicole Poole did a fine job with the over-sexed and over-blown plot. The pacing was very uneven; it was a pure comedy that alternated with serious issues. To be fair, I've re

How hard is it to dust off the demons from the past anyway?

Shirlene Dalton has known life at the both ends of the food chain and knows the top is much better. So, why again has she found herself living in the awful mobile home she grew up in - well out of control spending for one. Shirlene was a grieving widow who was offered help but she couldn't stop to get it she was busy shoe shopping. Now she has found herself trying to make the ends meet in her broken down home and get along with her neig

Shirlene Dalton had it all. She was married to the richest guy in Bramble, TX and spent money like there was no tomorrow. But when he up and dies suddenly with his company on the verge of bankruptcy which also means the town is in jeopardy, Shirlene keeps on spending to get over her grief and pays no attention that she has no way of paying off loans and ignores warning's from the bank until she is evicted from her mansion. Shirlene didn’t start off in life with a silver spoon in her mouth. She g ...more

I laughed so much reading this book. I had tears in my eyes. I read the book in two days, because I could not put it down.

Shirlene Dalton was a likeable character from the beginning in Going Cowboy Crazy. A part of me thought she was a little shallow but I never fully realized that she was a true survivor, no matter what.
I read that Ms. Lane pictured Mayberry a little when she thought of Bramble, Texas. I’m not old enough to actually remember the s

CATCH ME A COWBOY(DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS) by Katie Lane is an interesting Contemporary Western Romance set in Bramble, Texas. Shirlene Dalton is down on her luck. Her husband died from a heart-attack, she's banished from her home and she find herself talking to the pig she's babysitting for her friend. She have no other choice than to return to her childhood trailer where she discover a group of raggamuffins squatting it.

But how can she take care of the little hooligans when she already have a tough time dealing with her own problems? And what about this insane attraction for the ultimate hillbilly in town? And how

I couldn’t stop laughing at some of the passages in Catch Me a Cowboy! Katie Lane’s heroine Shirlene is full of spunk and attitude, even with a heart softer than a marshmallow. She’s widowed, then turned out of her mansion so she returns to the trailer she grew up in – and finds new “tenants” in it.

Trying to keep up appearances isn’t easy, but she sure tries her darnedest – and the tenants and her neighbor really don’t know what to make of her, never mind figuring out how to get rid of her. They

Another 5 star for Katie Lane.

Hilarity continues in the 3rd book about the Texas town of crazy and wonderful people. I feel in love with them all in book one of this series and I wish it really existed because the people are funny, caring and I know I said it already, but crazy.

I would love to go to the diner and sit and talk with them all and watch the chaos swirl around.

This book picks up with the story of a group of kids who have escaped from an abusive foster family, a rich hunky cowboy who

I completely enjoyed this book. The third in this series, we meet back up with Shirlene Dalton. Her wealthy husband has passed away leaving her in a bit of a mess...mostly of her own making from her spending habits. She now is back where she grew up, evicted from her mansion and in a run down trailer. The trailer just happens to be inhabited by 4 kids and the neighbor is the biggest redneck ever, Bubba.
I loved that the old characters were still around and their families had grown! Shirlene is a
