Built on the writings of the early church fathers, these essays written in honor of Thomas C. Oden and edited by Kenneth Tanner and Christopher A. Hall span theological perspectives.
This collection of essays is a great gathering of many different faiths to talk about some of the basics of Christian faith in post-modern culture. All share the belief that the way forward can be found by looking back; back to our heritage, back to our formation, back to our tradition, back to our historical relationship with God. As with any collection, I though some stood out while others were not worth reading. A couple essays near the end were so specific to United Methodists, that I didn't see the necessity of their inclusion. But, those few essays were still seemingly well written from an outsider perspective. All in all, a refreshing dose of Orthodox Christianity in the sea of recent books.
