I really liked the sound of this, but as does happen sometimes even though its a well written story, a great debut book it just didn’t really work for me.

I found it hard to be convinced of the story, and didn’t really connect to either Kelly or Jarek. That means for me the story becomes kind of mundane, I need to feel empathy with the leads and t

Patricia C. Lee is another of the fabulous authors that we came across through working with the amazing Crescent Moon Press. Destiny’s Past is the first in the Daughters Of The Crescent Moon Trilogy and after reading Destiny’s Past this is a series we are very keen to follow.

The story is set around Kelly and Jarek who first meet in the morgue where Kelly works; Jarek is not the dead body he first seems to be. From the word go there a
I really like encouraging local authors so when I met this author in a bookstore near my hometown, I was thrilled that she wrote paranormal romance books. Finally! A local author that writes books in a genre that I love! The premise of this trilogy sounded perfect for me so I decided to get the first book signed on a whim and see what local talent is all about. Personally, I thought it was an interesting debut and I really enjoyed it, despite the few problems I had with the plot. Patricia C. Lee ...more

On a hot summer day I was in need of something to read. Something that would capture my attention so I could ignore the screaming grandchildren.

Destiny's Past accomplished that feat--amazing in itself.

Straight-laced Kelly Richards, Medical Examiner, runs headlong into a paranormal world where magic resides. Jarek is our hero, a dead man who claims he's from another world--a prince in fact, of Leisos, a magical world where he rules.

Since this is a paranormal romance, time-traveling duo, you know

I received this book from net gallery for an honest review.

Fate introduced Kelly and Jarek in unusual circumstances. Kelly goes into panic mode when a dead man comes back to life right before her very eyes. Jarek needs help, he's travelled into the future because he's dying and needs to find a cure for the poison that's killing him.

Kelly has lost her family and carries a heavy burden on her shoulders. Will she believe and help Jarek?

I absolutely loved the book and thoroughly enjoyed it. The c

This was a fun, quick read. Kelly Richards is a medical examiner whose carefully ordered world is turned upside down when Jarek, a prince from two thousand years in the past, comes into her life. At first Jarek needs Kelly to heal him, but the more time they spend together the more they both need each other. I like the way their relationship developed. Kelly's strong facade hides a lot of pain, and coming to terms with that pain is part of her journey in this book. Vanessa and Narena add some in ...more

The first chapter drew me in, the rest of the story kept me. Loved the contrast between Kelly's scientific ideals and Jarek's magical world. He is a great hero, that you will fall in love with. If only he had a brother. Oh wait, he does! Destiny's Past is a time travel story without the cliche of the people adapting right away. These two definitely have to deal with the changes they come across. I wanted to know more about Jarek's world, it sounds like a medieval magical kingdom. Patricia Lee le ...more

I found this book to be an interesting and entertaining read. When Kelly, a medical examiner, prepares to perform an autopsy, she finds Jarek, a (gorgeous) man from another time and place lying on the slab, in need of her help. The story moves well, has interesting characters, and a well-drawn plot that becomes more intricate as the story progresses. This is a solid debut from a fine storyteller, and I hope that there is a sequel in the works!

Loved this book!!! I could not put it down, so I read it all today!!!! This series will rate up there with some of my favourite authors like Diana Gabaldon and Sara Donati. I also think it is wonderful to be from the same city as the author!!! I will be waiting for the next book!

The story line is wonderful and is a smooth read. Looking forward to 2nd book. This is one book you do not want to miss if you like paranormal (time travel) romance.

Even for a quick read I found the vocabulary to be too basic. It’s called fiction, Ms Lee, use your imagination, paint the story instead of rattling it down. For that we’ve got the so called ‘Easy Readers’.

I really wanted to like this book. The premise intrigued me and I'm a sucker for medical professionals as protagonists. Having a daughter in medical school definitely makes me a fan! However, I was unable to get past the first few pages. One jarring note after another kept throwing me out of the story. If it wasn't an unrealistic portrayal of the psychology, work habits, and professional methodology of a M.E., it was exaggerated, melodramatic description. I hope the author can do better in the f ...more

Kelly Richards was facing a strange situation. Suddenly she had a non-dead man in the morgue who claims he comes from the past where he was poisoned and needed help. Still doubting and thinking to get him professional help, she helped Jarek taking him to her apartment. While sorting the situation, attraction got stronger, emotions were playing and plans were made to deal with his return to Leisos. But Kelly was confronted with her past reliving nightmares and facing danger. Secrets were unveiled ...more
