Brilliant premise. Excellent writing. The author came up with a brilliant format. The book is full of lovely essays full of warmth and love. The recipes are wonderful. This book is my new "go to" when I need a few minutes of respite from life (or am whiling away time waiting for a tray of cookies to bake).

I was very impressed with the lovely writing in this book - far more graceful and distinctive than the writing in many food memoirs. It was both a satisfying literary read and an inspiration to get in the kitchen and try some of her fantastic-sounding recipes. This book will become a permanent part of my collection - I loved it and am looking forward to more from this talented author.

This wasn't as interesting as I had hoped. There were a couple of gems, but the rest just didn't capture my attention.

Part memoir, part cookbook -- Susan does a really nice job. I got it for my iPad and sneak in reads when I have time. It's funny and insightful.
