I am an acupuncture fertility specialist who is very enthusiastic about this book. I recommend it to all of my patients who are concurrently pursuing pregnancy with a reproductive endocrinologist. The basic themes/ diagnosis' are exactly what you see in clinic. The chapters are well organized so a lay person can find their own issues with ease, and read accordingly. You’ll know what lab tests are useful and have the major takeaway points laid out for you. It’s easy to understand and provides statements from patients in each category of challenge. It’s clear and concise making it a must read for patients navigating the fertility journey.
To anyone starting on their journey to fertility, or to anyone who wants a greater understanding, this book is perfect. It covers an array of topics that are relevant to fertility treatment. This book not only offers the knowledge from physicians but also real life experience from patients. Excellent read.
I was very impressed with this book. It broke down complex information and made it easy to understand, and each chapters' stories added a personal touch. This guide would be a great resource for someone desiring more information about infertility and fertility treatment options.
Very informative and was easy to understand. It covered the basis of what most things lead to infertility. One thing the book didn't really recognize was the financial burden that IVF can cost you. They mentioned it throughout the entire book and even had a chapter on affording IVF, but it just seemed to kind of shrug its shoulders and was like, "Yeah, it's expensive. You'll figure it out if you want it bad enough ". Okay, I guess that's where I'm at. One woman's story spoke about how she was upset because the 1 good embryo from an IVF transfer failed and she had no more embryos and would have to do another cycle, but she tried to look on the bright side and realized that she already had a beautiful daughter and they can always do another cycle.
Some of us are in a boat where we can barely afford one cycle.
Every time there was a mention of hopelessness, the book refused to accept that and give some positive spin to the story when that's just not the case. Sometimes, it is hopeless.
There should have been a disclaimer on this book that said, "Of course you can get pregnant... If you're rich enough."
However, there was plenty of solid information in here and if you ignore the financials, there's plenty of great advice and stories from other people (though I felt the stories were kind of fabricated for the book. )
Very informative and will be resorting back as a reference guide on our fertility journey!! But it is written like a textbook so be prepared for it to read in that manor
