Black Beauty

Rate this book

Probably the most popular horse story of all time, Black Beauty tells the story of one horse's long and varied life. On the one hand, a fully engaging novel and on the other hand, a strong statement against animal maltreatment. Anna Sewell's classic novel has enthralled readers since it was first published in 1877.

A morality tale disguised as a children's book. Fun to read now since I somehow skipped reading it as a child.

Black beauty is a wonderful novel with drama, suspense, and love.Black beauty is a hores who lives in western london, this is a story about his life struggles and accomplishments. He has been sold to any different owners most of them are kind loving people, but there is one owner that was a drunken fool and he is very abusive twards black beauty. One night his owner was so drunk while driving his cab he had crashed it and blamed it on beauty.Soon after he went balsitic and started hitting beauty with his whip.(Black beauty had injusred his knees very very badly and then his master started hitting him with his whip.)I rated black beauty a 5 because it is a clasic novel plus as I said it has drama and suspense.I would definitly read it again! :) :*

This is our family book! When our son was 10 years old, we all sat down to watch the movie version - well, it was great, but as you know very sad - we cried through a lot of it, awaiting a happy ending. To this day, when we all want to get together as a family we say, "let's watch the movie Black Beauty" and we all burst out laughing with great exclamations of "NO!"...knowing how difficult it was to get thru that movie, it evoked such sadness, too difficult to ever do again!
