Charlie’s a sparky twelve-year-old who thinks she's too fat to get a boyfriend. A mild flirtation with the boy in the local video shop is as far as she's got in terms of a romance. She’s enjoying e-mailing her German penfriend, Frank, but when he suggests coming over to visit, she panics. She's sent him a photo of her skinny best friend, rather than of her, and now he'll find out… There's no way he could be interested in her for herself - is there?
Amanda Swift was a swot and ended up studying French at Oxford, although she only uses it now for ordering ice creams on the beach (in France). She first worked as an actress, once appearing in a commercial for Angel Delight! She has written several books for children, including The Boys’ Club and Anna/bella. She lives in South-East London with her translator husband, two teenage sons and two adorable rescue cats.
The book is very enjoyable to read. It is definitely for teenagers, they got that right. The girl is very worried about her weight all the time in the book and I could sometimes get annoyed as she is always worried about it. I myself am not overweight so maybe there are teenagers out there that can relate to this. Overall excellent book l enjoyed it😇❤️
